@spiderkie94 At a certain point you have to assume that that’s just a cynical ploy to engagement farm, because nobody is that much of a tourist on every subject under the sun.

@CS11__ Cornell was such an inspired choice for the theme. These days they just seem to pick people that are hot right now

@airbagg3d Even in the novels from the 1950s Bond stops underestimating women after his misogyny screws him over in Casino Royale. While he never has a female boss there, characters like Gala Brand or Honey Rider are shown to be experts in their fields from whom Bond can learn some things.

@Cade_Onder This is very much in staying with the franchise in that they‘ll have the occasional dated celebrity cameo.

@Imn0tDaredevil The Bond property is more than 70 years old. If it didn’t go with the times, it wouldn’t have survived the Cold War.

@ithacarising I sorta agree but at the same time Skyfall already got way too far into Bond‘s backstory and audiences lapped that up. And don’t get me started on the damage that followed with Spectre. If Knight can refrain from making Bond and Blofeld related he’s already doing better than that

No. This is a bad idea. In the Fleming canon, James Bond has always been less a fully drafted character than a perfectly cut silhouette against which the rest of us cast our more reckless shadows. The scant bones of a history – orphaned, naval officer, widowed by tragedy – root him just firmly enough in a credible past without ever weighing him down with the tedious luggage of motivation. To bolt on some fresh, screenwriterly backstory now is to mistake enigma for a gap in the market. It turns the ultimate cipher for our fantasies of chilled invincibility into just another case study in male damage. Leave the blanks alone. Bond works precisely because we are free to imagine the rest – and because the rest, thank heaven, remains none of our business.

@YanchaGoGo I like that the strongest character in the verse isn’t a monster like Homelander but more struggling with his own apathy like Doctor Manhattan. But Nice is more or less the Deep, when all is said and done

Gotta be honest with you guys, the Magikeepers just aren't doing it for me. Rejected Bleach designs, boring abilities and they sorta weaken the premise by existing. Wish Nishi had found a different way of reintroducing Minakata.

@BattyWanderer I hope this also relates to Bond being a little more tech savvy. Craig‘s weird caveman routine whenever it came to computers was cringe.

@AGramuglia It’s funny that people go on about media literacy being a played out trope yet can’t seem to grasp that Homelander wasn’t HIM. He was never HIM and the show screamed it from the rooftops.

@cinegent @trevorbaxendale No?! The Bond from the books is a thrill seeker and kind of a dickhead at times, but he doesn’t enjoy killing and he doesn’t like mistreating people either. In fact, he becomes less coldblooded and more introspective as the novels progress. Dalton‘s portrayal was close.

@trevorbaxendale Bond at heart is a cold, manipulative sociopath with a thrill-seeking almost death-wish attitude. No director has ever made this Bond. Craig in Casino Royale is the closest.

@esjesjesj Henry Cavill has the worst fandom imaginable for an actor. They constantly annoy everyone else with the idea that he‘s the greatest movie star and last bastion of manliness but wouldn’t go to the theatre if his life depended it.

@HaMmEdoGo As an outsider this stuff seems nuts to me. Like the American government effectively gaslit its people into expecting nothing from their representatives while pretending to be happy.

THEY TOLD AN ENTIRE GENERATION THAT GOVERNMENT WAS THE ENEMY WHILE CORPORATIONS BOUGHT POLITICIANS, CRUSHED WAGES, RAISED PRICES, AND TURNED BASIC SURVIVAL INTO A LUXURY. NOW PEOPLE WORK HARDER THAN EVER AND STILL CAN’T AFFORD TO LIVE. BUT SURE… THE BIGGEST THREAT IS FREE SCHOOL LUNCHES AND CHEAPER HEALTHCARE? MAMDANI DIDN’T JUST MOCK REAGAN. HE EXPOSED HOW OUTDATED THAT QUOTE SOUNDS IN 2026.
CALL TO ACTIVISM@CalltoActivism

🚨WOW! Mayor Zohran Mamdani just MOCKED Ronald Reagan’s famous quote. “I can think of nine words more terrifying than ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help…’” “I worked all day and can’t feed my family.” BOOM.

@AkuuSorcerer Is this a bad time to mention that the leader of Germany‘s far right is a lesbian that is married to a woman from Sri Lanka.
