@No5mallf3at I bet a lot of people are surprised at the farcical tone when they only know the movie through hype edits. Barry Lyndon is basically like a Napoleonic Forest Gump that turns into a complete asshole over the course of the movie.

Honestly first time it’s struck me that the Barry Lyndon’s love in recent years is just dumb people being like “oooh, pretty pictures and slow pace. So aesthetic”. I doubt these people could even articulate what the themes of the movie are.

It's first episode impressions, but anime has never felt more back after watching the new Ghost in the Shell. From the art style to how expressive the characters are and their dynamics, it feels like a love letter to anime from the 90s And dont me started on the dyke spiegel fit
