Recently, we, alongside @ipf_global, engaged Members of the Turkana County Assembly (@TurkanaAssembly) in a training on budget analysis and public finance oversight at the FoLT Resource Centre. As Turkana continues to face challenges in access to water, healthcare, education, and livelihoods, the role of the County Assembly in shaping and overseeing how public resources are used remains critical. The engagement created space to reflect on key issues and discuss how public resources translate into tangible improvements in our people’s lives. This engagement built on our continued work to strengthen participatory governance and accountability in Turkana, ensuring that communities are not only heard, but reflected in how decisions and budgets are made. 😊 🙌🏿 #RITAI

Vacancy Announcement: Legal Intern The County Assembly Service Board (CASB) invites applications from qualified and interested candidates for the position of Legal Intern for a period of six (6) months, in accordance with the County Assembly of Turkana Internship Policy.

In Turkana West, members of the refugee community are actively represented in the process, with the support of @UNHCR_Kenya and @RCKKenya . Their views are being formally received and considered by the Committee, ensuring inclusive and participatory governance.

#Day2 Pursuant to Article 196(1) of the Constitution of Kenya, the Committee on Finance, Planning, Trade & ICT chaired by Hon. Michael Ewoi is conducting public participation forums on the Turkana County Finance Bill, 2025 & Turkana County Annual Development Plan (ADP) 2026/2027

The forums brings together a wide cross section of our community ; civil society organizations, persons living with disabilities, youth, women among other stakeholders. These engagements are an opportunity for residents to shape the County’s development agenda.

The ADP aligns CIDP III priorities to projects & budgets, while the Finance Bill proposes revenue raising measures to fund county development. Forums run from 18th–19th February 2026, with a stakeholders’ meeting slated for 20th February 2026 at Cradle Hotel, Lodwar.

@RCKKenya field Coordinator @AmbasuMitch reaffirmed RCK’s commitment to strengthening participatory legislation and building the capacity of Members and Secretariat of the County Assembly as per the existing Letter of Agreement.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Charles Ewoi Lokioto emphasized collaboration between the National & County Government, civic education on the #ShirikaPlan, and joint action as key to achieving integration.

Sectoral Committees on Health Services & Sanitation and Water, Environment & Natural Resources earlier today began a 2-day workshop in Kakuma on Legal frameworks on refugee management, including the Refugees Act 2021 and Regulations 2024 & the Human Rights Based Approach.

Leaders present emphasized continued investment in youth livelihoods, services, infrastructure, and climate resilience to realize equitable integration.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Charles Ewoi Lokioto highlighted the County Assembly’s legislative and oversight role, including amended Standing Orders that allow refugees to petition the Assembly; strengthening inclusive governance.

Earlier today, the County Government of Turkana led by the Deputy Governor Dr. John Erus accompanied the @UNHCR_Kenya High Commissioner @BarhamSalih on a field visit to Kakuma Refugee Camp to assess refugee protection,host community inclusion & implementation of the #ShirikaPlan

and more inclusive public participation. The outcomes of the Annual Review Meeting will guide priority actions for the next phase of the SLDG Program, with a focus on sustainability, institutional ownership, and improved service delivery outcomes at the county level.
