The human-perceived RGB is image 1 and the Tesla AI photon count reconstruction is image 2. This is why Tesla FSD can see so well at night or through extreme glare.

Wrong. $TSLA bulls have for years argued that only TSLA can scale (i.e. build profitably) unsupervised autonomous vehicles. $BIDU’s 1,000 autonomous vehicles completing 250K-300K paid driverless rides per week will be profitable in FY’26. Please read what I wrote. By “scale” I mean producing/deploying thousands to millions of vehicles, expanding geographically quickly, achieving high utilization, and doing so profitably/competitively without human oversight (e.g., safety monitors). $BIDU Apollo Go RT6s now cost just $28K to produce and put into service excluding batteries. The same will be true of others as they figure out how to build autonomous vehicles more cheaply. There are reports that Waymo has a deal to purchase 50,000 vehicles from Hyundai by 2028. This deal, valued at approximately $2.5 billion, implies a cost of $50,000 per vehicle, including the sensors and integration, signaling a massive cost reduction for autonomous vehicles.

The thesis has never been that only Tesla can make driverless cars. Driverless cars have existed at Google since before Tesla made their first car! The thesis is that Tesla’s cost structure will let them make money on Robotaxis while most of the industry burns cash like crazy.

Only when you drive the Cybertruck do you realize how incredible it is: a bulletproof tank that moves like a million dollar sports car! Reason for the angular shape is that the thick, ultra-hard stainless steel body panels cannot be stamped like the thin, feeble, paper-strength mild steel of other trucks. Cybertruck body panels would break 5000 ton stamping machines.

@nahuelhilal @Tesla I’m thinking about a Tesla but my biggest concern is that I drove from Buffalo to Florida and back every year. Does charging really only take 5 mins now?

Yesterday I drove my @tesla 900 miles on FSD from Miami to Nashville and I realized it’s genuinely the better option. I fly that route 2 to 3 times a month. Flights are never under $400. Most times $600. Sometimes $800. Add Uber to and from both airports, or parking garage fees. Then factor in the delays, the cancellations, the security theater, the chaos, the guy next to you who hasn’t met deodorant yet. On the other hand: I pack healthy snacks, press one button, and the car just goes. I took calls. Replied to emails. FaceTimed my family. Ate without pulling over. Did everything I normally do on a travel day, except none of the stuff that makes travel days miserable. My biggest concern going in was range and charging. Here’s what actually happened: My bladder needed one extra stop the car didn’t even suggest. Most charging stops were under five minutes. Total cost for the whole trip was less than just the uber to the airport. And this was the base model Y. Now I’m thinking I should get something comfier and just make this the default.
