@owenjonesjourno A win by a right wing populist party in a former safe working class labour seat in the north of England would be existential.

What's the outcome that terrifies Labour most in the Gorton by-election? Reform winning? Nope. It's the Greens they're most worried about. They'd prefer Reform to win, rather than the Greens.

@CWUnews Here we are in January when you promised us all the outstanding issues would be agreed and balloted on by December 2nd . You added the section 5 issues into our pay ballot to get a yes vote. And when are you going to negotiate next year's pay rise when inflation is more than 2%?

@CWUnews You're the ones who told us you had a legally binding groundbreaking agreement. You're the ones who told us to accept a pitiful pay rise of 65p a week over 3 years by bundling the section 5 issues into the same ballot. And now you're telling us to do the negotiation for you

@TutsselDavid No. We are asking you to do a very simple thing as part of an overall strategy. Being a union member isn’t a spectator sport. It’s about getting involved and helping to shape things.

@CWUnews Basically the CWU has been led up the garden path AGAIN! You told new entrants that first steps would be announced in September and there's still nothing for them. You also said the full ep agreement would be finalised in December, some hope of that now. What a shambles.

UPDATE FOR ROYAL MAIL GROUP MEMBERS CWU members will be aware of a communication issued yesterday by Royal Mail confirming they will no longer be seeking any further deployment of USO reform until 2026. This is a position the union communicated many weeks ago and it has now been confirmed openly by the business. This is welcomed. Our priority now will be fixing the issues in the USO pilot units. We want to make it clear to members that we will not be reaching an agreement on Royal Mail’s ODM model. It has failed. At the same time, they point to these USO negotiations and their complexity as one reason for the delay in the implementation of resolutions for all outstanding issues from section 5 of the EP Group / CWU agreement - which of course includes the first step in equalising new entrants’ terms and conditions. We do not accept this position. We are also extremely concerned at the continued degrading of quality of service across the UK which culminated last week in a record £21m fine from OFCOM. Every CWU member will know the reality is even worse than this with mail failures being in many cases underreported. This lack of honesty and integrity from Royal Mail continues to be a major concern for everybody who cares about the future of the business. The CWU will continue to make the case in negotiations for the full implementation of the EP Group / CWU agreement at the earliest opportunity with any overdue issues like the new entrants’ terms and conditions being backdated as appropriate. We will also be directly engaging the government now on the lack of progress since the EP Group takeover, the need for a complete overhaul in the way OFCOM regulate the postal industry and how we level the playing field and tackle unfair competition. Our Postal Executive have agreed an extensive engagement plan with our members and all these issues, and we have today shared this with our branches. In the coming days and weeks, we will directly engage with local representatives and members to ensure you are a key part of how we challenge Royal Mail, truly re-set employee and industrial relations and rebuild quality of service in our workplaces. Our final message today is to thousands of new entrants across the country - the best way of delivering equalisation is by you joining the CWU. The company have already shown that if they believe they can avoid improving your terms and conditions they will. We will hold them to the words we have secured, and we will deliver fairness - every new entrant that joins strengthens our hand.

@CWUnews So when you said 'The protracted nature of these negotiations has also impacted on other areas of the agreement including agreeing the first step in equalising new entrants' terms and conditions.' on Oct 2nd you were lying?

@CWUnews The correct sequencing of the section 5 agreement would have seen an agreement on sick pay and the first step of pay equalisation implemented on September 2nd.

USO Reform   We met with EP Group last Thursday and they confirmed that given the differences that remain between Royal Mail and CWU on the approach to deploying USO Reform, alongside the need for all parties to now focus on preparing properly for the pending peak period, there will be no further deployment of the USO this year, beyond the existing 35 pilot sites. The Union believes this is the right decision and represents a pragmatic response from the company to resolving these crucial issues, allowing for further talks to prioritise the need to reach an agreement that deploys a workable and sustainable solution, rather than one that is based on pre-determined and unrealistic savings. EP Group/CWU Agreement   The decision not to deploy any further USO reform this year also reflects the correct sequencing of the commitments made in section 5 of the EP Group/CWU agreement.   Both parties have now agreed to intensify discussions from next week to resolve all the outstanding section 5 issues.

More of your life back, for the same pay. Equalisation will cut the full-time working week from 40 to 37 hours without a loss in earnings. This is a game-changer for new entrants. Back our negotiations and join the CWU today.

@brothheed @CWUnews New deal isn't 10% of profits. It's 10% of money taken as dividends by the owners. 20% of £12m among 100,000 employees is £24 each (before tax.)

@CWUnews So with todays new from RM making a profit last tax yr, question is do we get 20% of the profits as our last pay deal which covered that tax yr was staff get 20% of any profit, not the new deal of only 10%

@MarcAnthonyC1 @CWUnews Equalisation is only necessary after the previous pay deal which the union unanimously recommended, which introduced a two-tier workforce. You're just fixing a problem you initially agreed to.
