@BenInRushcliffe @Nonamegiven_o_ @ReformJamie Sets you on a path to blaming the electorate, which is fair enough, Labour have form there.
English

@CharliePDG @Nonamegiven_o_ @ReformJamie Err? No I blame people believing Facebook and Twitter fake news.
English

@Nonamegiven_o_ @ReformJamie @BenInRushcliffe I mean it goes to show how shit their political conmunications are if so many people thought Labour would freeze it. Labour have sent out mixed messages on tax policy for years and people have had enough.
English

@CharliePDG @christopherhope A secular country with a Christian heritage.

NEW Attorney General Lord Hermer - one of the country’s most senior Jewish politicians - wades into the row over Muslims praying in Trafalgar Square, saying: “Nick Timothy has said that mass prayer in public places is an act of ‘domination’. But when he and Kemi Badenoch were questioned about his appalling views, they seemed to only have an issue with Muslim events.
“Timothy and Badenoch’s comments beg the question – would they have a problem if I as a Jewish man, were praying in public? Or is it just Muslim prayer they find offensive, and contrary to ‘British values’?”
“The Conservative Party, like Reform and Tommy Robinson, is seeking to divide Britain. Instead, they should be celebrating our brilliantly welcoming and diverse country.” More at @GBNEWS.
English

@Nonamegiven_o_ @bingobango9 @BenInRushcliffe And now the UK Labour budget laid down by Rachel Reeves places an expectation on All councils in England ro raise their Council Tax by 5%. Amazing work.
English

@Nonamegiven_o_ @bingobango9 @BenInRushcliffe So the leader of the Labour Party stands up 8 weeks prior to the local elections and says "I would freeze your council tax" and in the same exchange urges people to vote Labour on the 4th of May.
You wonder why people think politicians lie. They should practice what they preach.
English

@Nonamegiven_o_ @bingobango9 @BenInRushcliffe Amazing, My local Labour Council must have missed that memo from their Party Leader in 2023-24.
Strange considering Starmer campaigned twice in Medway in the 2023 local election campaign.

English

@BenInRushcliffe So you don't actually care about the tax increase. Just political pointscoring, it's a nice problem to have.
Plus Labour have lied on tax for two years so its not great for them tbf.
English

@juoig7799 @char1iewatts Yes of course if you can, but c'mon most people going to B&Q are buying planters and power tools and gallons of paint.
Added to that they are almost all placed in out of town retail parks with large carparks. Their designed like that for a reason.
English

@CharliePDG @char1iewatts But if you're going there to buy like a tape measure or a mask or lightbulbs, you don't need to take your 1.5 tonne polluting metal box!
English

@LeftieStats @PartTimeBlue There just will be a decent level of tactical voting in 70% Left Wing seats with high student or migrant populations. The inner cities won't vote Reform. Also assumes that Labour dont become more palatable to Left Wing voters under say a Rayner or Burnham leadership come 2029.
English

@CharliePDG @PartTimeBlue The problem with assuming "tactical voting" will win the day is that nobody has a clue who the best-placed party to beat Reform is anymore. It works in by-elections because all attention is focused on 1 seat, but when there are 632 seats (#GE2029) or thousands of seats? Nah
English

🗳️#GE2029 estimate | North-East England:
➡️ Ref: 36% (+16)
🔴 Lab: 24% (-21)
🟢 Grn: 16% (+10)
🔵 Con: 15% (-6)
🟠 Lib: 6% (=)
-- Seats --
➡️ Ref: 22 (+22)
🟢 Grn: 2 (+2)
🔵 Con: 2 (+1)
🔴 Lab: 1 (-25)
+/- vs GE2024

English

@PartTimeBlue @LeftieStats They simply won't win the City of Newcastle, (East & West) This poll will have them winning it on about 27% of the vote with like 25% for Labour and 23% for the Greens.
I don't doubt they'll do well, Likely Sweep Durham, Most of Teeside and Wearside, But some will vote tactical.
English

@CharliePDG @LeftieStats It definitely won't! Reform has won the majority of by-elections in the northeast.
English

@JamesBennettUK @nnelsonni Someone needs to state this then because when Braverman & Zahawi start creaming over Maggie on podcasts, Whilst it may not manifest itself before the election, It certainly will after like Boris.
People want a relentless focus on Industry, Energy, Education & their Communities.
English

If the next Australian election were held today based on current polling

AusPoll@AusPoll6
🚨 NEW: One Nation would win around 52 seats in the House of Representatives while the Coalition would fall to just NINE, according to an MRP model released today by DemosAU
English

@BoveFromAbove @Helen_Whately I mean it would have been nice to have a Labour leader actually campaign for Remain. Or Leave, At least something.
English

@Helen_Whately The Tories gave us Brexit, which stifled economic growth for a generation.
English

If you want more benefits, vote Labour.
If you want nationalisation, vote Nigel Farage.
Conservatives have a better offer. Grip welfare. Back business. Get growth.
Kemi Badenoch@KemiBadenoch
The Conservative Party is BACK! It’s time to get Britain working again.
English

@LeapfrogMark @christopherhope You've moved your own goalposts. At first you're comparing carol services on the green to acts of domination...
Then saying the qualification to be Christian is to officially attend worship. Christian carols sung, Christian law, 25% of primarys CofE, Churches in every community.
English

@CharliePDG @christopherhope Are we? I'd say we're a secular country with a Christian heritage, with around 6.8% of the population attending Christian worship.
Abingdon, England 🇬🇧 English

@LeapfrogMark @christopherhope Oh god yeah, Its almost like we're a Christian country
English

@christopherhope What on earth is Nick Timothy going to make of all the Passion Play enactments taking place through the streets across the country this Easter - and God forbid he chances upon an open air carol concert this Christmas.
Abingdon, England 🇬🇧 English

@SlyForTheRight Sir, They're talking up town council by-elections again 😂😂
English

🚨 CONSERVATIVE GAIN IN HARROGATE 🚨
The Conservative Party wins the Valley Gardens by-election on Harrogate Town Council, taking it from the Liberal Democrats.
And here’s the key point — Reform UK came a distant third and would have easily handed this seat to the Lib Dems.
This is exactly the problem. Reform splitting the vote and risking wins for the left.
Reform needs to stand down. ⚠️🇬🇧

English

@ZachESaunders @bbcdebatenight Referendums almost always bring the debate down to a level of shouting, 3 word slogans and victimising people. It would be a terrible way to decide changing the healthcare system in this way.
English

@bbcdebatenight How condescending.
You common people shouldn’t get a say, we know better than you!
English

“If you went through the hours we’ve spent on it, I think you’d be shocked by how much you had to learn”
Liberal Democrat Angus MacDonald warns against holding a referendum on assisted dying, saying politicians are “well informed” on potential issues like coercion
