There’s a chance companies are doing more than active listening through your phone. This one is 🤯. Last night, at a concert, as my wife is coming out of the bathroom she almost runs into a woman coming in. Startled she says “Oh I’m sorry. I love your pants.” (She didn’t, not her style at all) Today, she opens up FB and the first ad she sees is for the exact same pants, from Shein of all places. Unmistakably ugly. It would be concerning enough if my wife had her phone in her hand, indicating that her camera had activated without her knowledge. What makes this truly alarming is that her phone was in her purse. If this was a targeted ad, her phone would have had to communicate with the other lady’s phone to access her purchase history, or even worse, her photos that she took at or before the concert. So is this the craziest case of marketing espionage or just the craziest coincidence?
