@JDVance @PM_ViktorOrban I think like Obama talking about Brexit in the UK, it is not proper for a high ranking US official to be interfering with a foreign election or referendum.
English

The real divide in our time is between those who believe in a better future for us and our children, and those who don’t.
Great to speak in Budapest today with @PM_ViktorOrban

@Infamous_Design @GBNEWS @Alexarmstrong The idea of liberalism applies to both democrats and republicans. Its like freedom, equality, rule of law that sort of thing. A lot of people in the US are not committed to that even if they say they are. Not to be confused with being "a liberal".
English

@Tweeter2025UK @GBNEWS @Alexarmstrong What values are those? Are you able to list out the general ideas that count as “liberal values”?
English

‘Britain risks entering a dark age as America retreats, one we haven’t seen for over a thousand years.’
@Alexarmstrong warns that Britain is ‘dangerously exposed’ by not being part of US President Donald Trump’s plans, emphasising the growing global dependence on the US.
English

@Channel4News The US has never tried to interfere with a foreign election.
English

@BohuslavskaKate You could say the Ukraine conflict is working out well for the US. If I were a senior US person who still saw Russia as a strategic opponent I would be happy the Russians were running down their military so much. They would probably be better off stopping this war.
English

Vance: “What I would say to both Russians and Ukrainians is we're talking about haggling over a few square kilometers of territory. Is that worth losing hundreds of thousands of additional russian and Ukrainian young men?"
Vance is once again failing to distinguish between the aggressor and the victim, attempting to convince you that it is acceptable to pressure the victim into complying with the aggressor’s demands.
He fails to recognize that he is not only urging Ukraine to surrender territories, but also the people who live there, our homes, and our most fortified defense lines dooming us for future attacks, because this war is not at all about territory, but about Ukraine existence as a state.

@Tweeter2025UK @Daily_Express He was asked not to put stuff in his pockets and then barged past the staff.
No excuses!

Brazen shoplifter steals food from M&S before shoving staff out his way 😱 #dailyexpress #news #london

@FSBManchester @Daily_Express Find it difficult to get a straight answer out of AI on concealment. I originally thought the same that putting the object in an opaque bag would be concealment but apparently its not as simple as that.
English

@Tweeter2025UK @Daily_Express Actually illegal to conceal an object in a retail premises in the UK. He has already committed enough of an offence to be kicked out if anyone was there to enforce it.
English

@BrokenBritain_7 @Daily_Express I mentioned that in my second comment. Twitter doesn't allow me to write my entire comment in 1 post.
English

@Tweeter2025UK @Daily_Express He literally has an empty basket in his hand.
English

@kejca I would like to see how successful Cuba would have been without all the trade limitations placed on it by the US. When people say Cuba's economy has struggled because of its political system they are ignoring the obvious fact it has been targeted by sanctions etc.
English

Charlie Munger: "If you're a pure socialist, you're a nutcase. An absolute nutcase. And not a modest nutcase — a real nutcase."
"You can be a perfect nut with a high IQ."
"If we want a productive society, we can't help but have these personal incentives to handle your own affairs — and if you do that, you get unequal wealth outcomes. The price of plenty is that you can't have socialism."
English

@Daily_Express The guy (who was probably a shoplifter) could easily argue that he left the store in haste because he feared for his own safety. He would have to explain why he didn't use the shopping basket he was carrying but sometimes people do random things.
English

@Daily_Express If the reason for suspecting him was he was putting stuff in his bag then thats not enough to physically intervene. There has to be other reasons. Sometimes people use their bags if there are no baskets. In Brazil its apparently normal to use your own bag while shopping.

@2000_beep @TheEconomist Your comment makes a good point but my original point is likely sound. I think the two cases that you cite that are valid (Japan and Korea) do not prove those societies can always control migration. Korea in particular is difficult to access. Singapore has many migrants.
English

@2000_beep @TheEconomist If more people tried to go to Japan then they would lose control. There is a threshold #. Europe is different. It is close to war zones. Japan has a population that is behind this policy making it easier. In Europe, population is split. Sea of Japan is cold to cross.
English

Britain is good at absorbing immigrants and allowing them to thrive. A government determined to harass them is not only likely to fail to hit its unrealistic targets. It will damage one of the country’s greatest strengths economist.com/britain/2026/0…
English

@rosscoulthart @ABC @rachelvscott @POTUS Most people in the US are good people. Most people in the US government too. There are people who work for the US government who are quite comfortable with prolonged torture and violence and have no concern for human dignity at all. You get that in any large organisation though.
English

A chilling and terrifying threat from the President of the US: @ABC Correspondent @rachelvscott was told by @POTUS that if Iran makes no deal he’s blowing up the whole country.
Rachel Scott@rachelvscott
Spoke with President Trump. He told me the conflict should be over in days, not weeks but if no deal is made he’s blowing up the whole country with “very little” off the table. "If happens, it happens. And if it doesn't, we're blowing up the whole country,” he said. I asked if there’s anything off limits. “Very little,” he said.
English

@Gibboanxious The day to day experience of refugees (I have actually asked refugees this) at least in the UK is that people are very polite. It is not like twitter. However, NHS workers are saying that they have noticed racist incidents against staff have increased in the last year.
English

@LeeHarris As there isn't much space in Jails why not just fine people who steal. Then the numbers shoplifting will be low again and they can introduce jail terms at that time if they want. These people are learning a behaviour which is problematic. Retail is important for the UK.
English

@GuntherEagleman From these statistics it sounds like he is doing well for Argentina.
English

@oguzerkan I think there was always a risk Trump would do something to cause economic issues in his second term even if he did a lot of the right things to help the economy.
English

If Trump hits Iran’s power plants, Iran will hit gulf countries’ oil fields, refineries, and desalination plants.
Oil will go to $150.
If oil hits $150, we’ll likely have a global recession, says Blackrock CEO:
The Kobeissi Letter@KobeissiLetter
BREAKING: President Trump tells Iran “open the f***** Strait of Hormuz, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in hell.” Trump declares Tuesday as “power plant and bridge day.”
