This study highlights the distribution of POR star alleles in Africa and across global populations with a view toward informing future precision medicine implementation. Standardisation of the POR allele nomenclature is warranted given the #PGx importance of this gene.

Five novel rare POR haplotypes were computationally inferred from the African WGS data; five other unresolved diplotypes contained novel African-ancestry POR alleles. More novel POR alleles were identified in African populations compared to other global populations.
