It's a wrap! #EESHuman finished lunch time today and everyone is already on their way back 😭 We wish we could all stay for another couple of days – no matter how much time we have, it's never enough and there's always more research to discuss! 🧬🤓 See you next time? 👋🏼

Our first group output from the #DNAirobi workshop is now published! Written by co-authors from all over the world, we share our view for what the #popgen and #aDNA research landscape in Africa could look like in ten years’ time (and how we can get there). cell.com/ajhg/fulltext/…

'It’s vital that scientists analyse more genomes from African people. As we do so, it will undoubtedly reveal an intricate picture of the continent’s rich past.' Check out my article in the Conversation summarising some of the findings of our recent paper!!

"Our genomes hold information about major events of the past": @nancybird_ @uclbiosciences @UCLLifeSciences shows how evidence of ancient empires and migrations can still be seen embedded within the genomes of Africans living today. theconversation.com/dna-study-open…

Excited to share our new paper out in @ScienceAdvances!! We analyse new genetic data from >1300 people from West and Central Africa and Sudan, finding incredible diversity and signals of admixture across the continent. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…. #ScienceAdvancesResearch thread>

This project has made up most of my PhD and it has been so amazing (as a humble geneticist) to work with anthropologists, archaeologists and linguists in Africa and around the world and learn so much history. (pic is me being a tourist in Foumban, Cameroon)
