The Israeli occupation destroys the central archive of #Gaza municipality, executing thousands of historical documents, and deliberately razing all life forms; erasing the city and its #history. It is worth noting that the archive holds #documents more than a hundred years old.

Not only should @ucu vocally oppose increased visa fees, but also add to its list of demands that all unis commit to reimbursing all visa costs for all international workers including PhDs on Tier 4 visas. It's a scandal that this is not standard practice in the sector.

Have always raged about the flippant attitude that US/UK/Schengen nations have towards retaining/handling our passports but this is just next level evil. Apply for a new passport before fleeing for your life!?!?

@Abu_Django @hissandmiss @YashicaDutt I agree. My point is that Savarna folks' imagination of "inter caste" alliances is often limited to elite castes intermarrying. Hence the use of "Bengali" to refer to caste identity. Not knowing one's caste is a privilege of the elite. I know this coz I grew up among them.

Her father marrying a non-Rajput in those days, even the among highly educated, was huge taboo
There is no prouder group (Brahmin prestige is only due to religious-cultural connotations, Rajputs literally descend from Kings)

All of this! Also a perfect example of how subtext and deliberate ambiguation are used by Savarna folks to obfuscate caste. "Bengali" and "Sindhi" are used to mean "Hindu upper caste" as if there aren't millions of Muslim and Dalit Bengalis and Sindhis in the world.

@hissandmiss @YashicaDutt Lol. If that was indeed the case then her Bengali-ness would not have been mentioned as part of "inter caste". But thanks for proving my point with your comments.

@TwinerTweets @YashicaDutt also when Rushali spoke about how her parents had an inter caste wedding, her father being Rajput and mother being bengali, not once I thought her being bengali was used as an indicative to dominant caste. In fact I thought it to be the opposite!
