Why is the hockey community so willing to indulge clowns? Kap had 15 points in 11 games, was plus 10, and lost to the team that will win the Stanley Cup. Universally agreed upon best player in the world McDavid had 6 points in 6 games, minus-5, and was bounced in Round 1.

@CeeBeeJeebies @theinsidertruth I don’t disagree but I think the Wild saw it as either keep Kaprizov or rebuild immediately and they chose to pay whatever they had to to keep him. I’m not trying to argue he’s worth $17 million. I’m saying it’s absurd to act like he had a bad playoffs.

@theinsidertruth Everybody said that was an overpay* to keep the star player in the market. Leaving out a pretty key detail there. I’m sure Guerin would much rather have paid $13 million but it was far worse to lose Kaprizov than to overpay to keep him. It was a calculated (and correct) move.

This is mostly right, but the Blues should be higher. Bettman loves the #stlblues - obvious from the attention they get in Winter Classics and other events. he views them as doing everything right (stadium renovations, good ownership, etc.)
