Album Review for Icon by Brent Faiyaz One would think that an artist of his caliber wouldn’t regress and make lackluster music, but here we are. This album is very underwhelming, disappointing and might just say, straight up bad. The album has just too many flaws that come from repetitive sounds, terrible melodies and some vocals that just lack the overall quality of being considered good from an R&B standpoint. Speaking of R&B standpoint… that’s not this album. There are elements of funk, Synth-pop and more but just nuanced R&B doesn’t exist on this album at all. The foundation of no autotune, and slow jams doesn’t exist here. The album has tracks that he’s made before in a different font on another project, and more songs that lack replay value. The first 3 tracks are fine because one is an instrumental and the other two are similar sounds that we’ve heard before. Outside of that, the album plummets to hell with the most repetitive sound that you would ever come across. Honestly, this album goes to help the narrative that he’s just an overrated artist and he’s not actually talented at all. Unfortunately, this is just a skip and a colossal waste of time. Final Score: Traffic Jam in the middle of Atlanta/10
