Everyone thought the future was carbon fiber
Elon Musk looked at the physics and chose stainless steel for Starship instead
Sounds insane.... until you realize stainless gets stronger at cryogenic temperatures, handles reentry heat better, and costs massively less than advanced composites. It doesn't even need paint
He chose a material that is faster to build, easier to weld, tougher in extreme conditions, and built for rapid iteration
Classic Elon: ignore convention, trust first-principles engineering, and pick the solution everyone else missed
He is taking science fiction and making it real. Building things that only existed in imagination, and pushing them to the absolute limits of physics

I will never hate men!
American men, I see you. I appreciate you deeply. Your strength, your hard work, your quiet sacrifices, your service! You make this country and our lives better every single day.
Thank you for being you. You are truly loved and valued. ❤️

@NYMag It is the difference between a selfless life and a selfish life. It isn’t hard to figure out who is on each side.

Sooner or later, everyone has to decide whether to give up lazy weekends, disposable income, and overall peace of mind to have a baby instead. For many of those on the fence, one anxiety looms large: What if I make the wrong choice? Parent regret is more common than you might think — the r/regretfulparents sub-Reddit alone gets around 70,000 weekly visitors who anonymously commiserate — though stigma makes it hard to admit in real life. Writer Bindu Bansinath speaks with three moms of young children about why they wish they could go back to their old lives: nymag.visitlink.me/Sv0c_9

@Michaelfiore We only have two seasons here: August and Christmas. The only difference is that during Christmas, the wind hitting your face feels like a frozen razor instead of a blow dryer

🚨2027 isn’t the end of diesel.
It’s the extinction of the old guard.
Fifteen years of the 6.7 Powerstroke.
Twenty years of the 6.7 Cummins.
Twenty-five years of the 6.6 Duramax.
That era is closing.
Now comes displacement escalation.
Ford isn’t playing small ball.
The 6.7 Powerstroke is being replaced with an 8.0L platform.
Multiple engineering sources point to 600–625 horsepower.
North of 1,400 lb-ft of torque.
Sequential turbo architecture tied to newly filed patents.
That isn’t a refresh.
That’s a statement.
Cummins is moving from 6.7L to 7.2L.
The B7.2 platform builds on the inline-six architecture that made the 6.7 legendary.
Factory targets around 545 horsepower.
Up to 1,450 lb-ft of torque.
Compression-release engine brake.
Auto start-stop in a heavy-duty diesel … first of its kind at that level.
GM?
They’re not tweaking the 6.6.
They’re reportedly preparing a displacement jump to 8.3L under what’s being called a “Megamax” architecture.
Complete redesign.
Over 600 horsepower targeted.
1,200–1,400 lb-ft range.
It’s time to trade my the L5P BEAST!
This isn’t efficiency talk.
This is torque war doctrine.from the factory.
The emissions era forced refinement.
The next phase looks like output escalation.
Bigger displacement.
Higher boost.
Factory numbers that used to require tuning shops.
If this holds, 2027 won’t mark the death of diesel.
It will mark the beginning of factory-built muscle diesels.
Horsepower wars are back.
And they’re running on compression ignition.
