The B7.2 platform builds on the inline-six architecture that made the 6.7 legendary. Factory targets around 545 horsepower. Up to 1,450 lb-ft of torque. Compression-release engine brake. Auto start-stop in a heavy-duty diesel … first of its kind at that level. GM? They’re not tweaking the 6.6. They’re reportedly preparing a displacement jump to 8.3L under what’s being called a “Megamax” architecture. Complete redesign. Over 600 horsepower targeted. 1,200–1,400 lb-ft range. It’s time to trade my the L5P BEAST! This isn’t efficiency talk. This is torque war doctrine.from the factory. The emissions era forced refinement. The next phase looks like output escalation. Bigger displacement. Higher boost. Factory numbers that used to require tuning shops. If this holds, 2027 won’t mark the death of diesel. It will mark the beginning of factory-built muscle diesels.
