If anyone at UT has any knowledge of who this man is or if he has any affiliation with UT please tell me. Me and @fernandaampl were walking onto campus when he unprovoked started making rude comments and yelling slurs at me.

The freedom to protest is integral to our democracy. UT Austin students have a First Amendment right to freely express their political opinions — without threats of arrest and violence. If you or someone you know needs legal support, call the Austin Lawyers Guild: 512-817-4254

“We treat Moms for Liberty like the KKK. If you knew that a KKK meeting was happening in a church down the street from your house, everyone would be alarmed.” Flushed with hate. Mouths agape: Moms for Liberty is a far-right hate group that engages in anti-student inclusion activities while purporting to be a modern parental rights movement. Moms for Liberty are the notorious, right-wing zealots who terrorize the nation with their beliefs, their demands, and their dangerous ubiquity. Moms for Liberty made their national debut in America on the Rush Limbaugh Show. The GOP LOVES MFL: Of late, this extremist group has exploded in GOP popularity — propelled by opposition to public health regulations for COVID-19. They’re also notorious for opposing LGBTQ+ culture and racially inclusive school curriculum. MFL advocates book bans. Republicans are thrilled with all of the above, of course. This anti-student inclusion hate group has waged a wicked war against public schools, with watchdog members pouncing to seize hundreds of school board seats across the country. Moms for Liberty rail against teachers’ unions — condemning them as “terrorist organizations.” The Moms have called for the Department of Education to be crushed and eliminated. Moms for Liberty’s attacks on the LGBTQ+ community are plentiful and poisonous. Members of MFL even helped Gov. Ron DeSantis develop Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Moms for Liberty publicly championed the bill. Moms for Liberty are fangirls of Adolf Hitler, quoting and saluting him on the cover of their June 2023 newsletter. Purportedly on a mission to protect children, Moms for Liberty pack and attack school board meetings all across America. During the COVID crisis, they decried science and demanded an end to masking in schools and vaccine mandates. MFL promote book bans, and denounce curricula infused with the critical race theory they deem so deeply offensive. The Moms stand opposed to inclusive curriculum: targeting critical race theory and social emotional learning with particular vitriol. TIES TO AN INSURRECTIONIST: Trump campaign megadonor Julie Jenkins Fancelli — heiress to the Publix grocery store chain — contributed $50,000 to a Moms for Liberty political action committee. Never forget, Fancelli also donated millions to finance and support the January 6 rallies which lead to the violent storming of the Capitol Complex. One chapter of Moms for Liberty took issue with a book by Ruby Bridges on the subject of school integration — detailing her experiences. The Moms also protested a book on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., which they bashed as “Anti-American, Anti-White, and Anti-Mexican.” Rather than these books, which they deemed unacceptable, the Moms advocated for books with what they describe as a more positive historical perspective: books that focus on American “heroes” like Clarence Thomas. Moms for Liberty also recommends books by Birchers: supporters of the John Birch Society. Moms for Liberty is not an isolated anti-woke, anti-government hate group. The Moms are quite socially active and have strong connections to fellow anti-woke, anti-government hate groups: White nationalists, election deniers, and participants in the January 6th rallies and attacks are all among MFL’s regular contacts. In fact, Moms for Liberty connect with QAnon, Three Percenters, White nationalist Proud Boys, and more. Moms for Liberty have even been prominently pictured with various Proud Boys, flashing White power signs. Many more details below:

The Texas Quote of the Day is an entertaining description of Pampa, Texas during the 1920s oil-boom years as written by the legendary Woody Guthrie: "Pampa was a Texas oil boom town and wilder than a woodchuck. It traveled fast and traveled light. Oil boom towns come that way and they go that way. Houses aren't built to last very long, because the big majority of the working folks will walk into town, work like a horse for awhile, put the oil wells in, drill the holes down fifteen thousand feet, bring in the black gushers, case off the hot flow, cap the high pressure, put valves on them, get the oil to flowing steady and easy into the rich people's tanks, then the field, a big thick forest of drilling rigs, just sets there pumping oil all over the world to run limousines, factories, war machines, and fast trains. There's not much work left to do in the oilfields once the boys have developed it by hard work and hot sweat, and so they move along down the road, as broke, as down and out, as tough, as hard hitting, as hard working, as the day they come to town. The town was mainly a scattering of little old shacks. They was built to last a few months; built out of old rotten boards, flattened oil barrels, buckets, sheet iron, crates of all kinds, and gunny sacks. Some were lucky enough to have a floor, others just the dusty old dirt. The rent was high on these shacks. A common price was five dollars a week for a three roomer. That meant one room cut three ways. Women folks worked hard trying to make their little shacks look like something, but with the dry weather, hot sun, high wind, and the dust piling in, they could clean and wipe and mop and scrub their shanty twenty-four hours a day and never get caught up. Their floors always was warped and crooked. The old linoleum rugs had raised six families and put eighteen kids through school. The walls were made out of thin boards, one inch thick and covered over with whatever the women could nail on them: old blue wallpaper, wrapping paper from the box cars along the tracks, once in a while a layer of beaver board painted with whitewash, or some haywire color ranging from deep-sea blue through all the midnight blues to a blazing red that would drive a Jersey bull crazy. Each family usually nailed together some sort of a chair or bench out of junk materials and left it in the house when they moved away, so that after an even thirty-five cents worth of hand-made wash benches, or an old chair, or table had been left behind, the land-lord hired a sign painter to write the word 'Furnished' on the 'For Rent" sign.'" ----- Woody Guthrie describes the tough-as-nails life in Pampa, Texas during the town's oil boom days in the 1920s. This comes from Woody's classic autobiography, Bound for Glory, published in 1943

Ted Cruz has spent over a decade being one of the most divisive figures in American politics. It doesn’t have to be this way - it’s time for something new. Let’s get a new Senator in 2024. RT if you agree.
