On Sunday, four courageous young men in Utah bravely entered a burning home, successfully rescuing two dogs.

OK- I handled fentanyl every day as an anesthesiologist and am certain I probably spilled a bit on myself. This looks more like a panic attack with the agitation and fast breathing. ODs don't act like that- they just quietly slip under and stop breathing... there is no air hunger or striving the breath. Fentanyl doesn't make you frantic to breath- it makes your brain think it doesn't need to breath and so your respiratory rate just drops to zero. Just a full blown panic attack by deputy- certainly due to all the info she's gotten about how deadly fentanyl is. Sheesh- the suspect had the bag in contact with her body and you don't see her flopping around gasping for air. BUT- bravo for the swift actions by the partner. It was obvious that he too was in a panic but he did his job. I think cops need to be educated as to the problems with fentanyl but not scared out of their wits.

NEW: Female South Carolina police officer collapses after an accidental fentanyl exposure during a search. New bodycam footage shows a Berkeley County deputy jumping into action to save the female deputy who suddenly collapsed. "A female deputy then searched the woman’s person and the report states the deputy found a clear plastic bag that contained an unknown substance in one side of the driver’s bra and a folded-up dollar bill that also contained an unknown substance in the other side," reported WCSC. The male deputy was seen rushing to the cruiser to grab Narcan, which he then administered to the female deputy. The deputy was taken to the hospital and later released.
