The summer is a time for young people to enjoy the city, have new experiences, get a job or simply rest. It’s not a time for violence.
I sat down with violence interrupters and young men directly impacted by gun violence to talk about what this administration is doing to keep New Yorkers safe.
Real public safety means investing in people before tragedy strikes: summer jobs, mental health support, community programs, safe streets, and trusted messengers who grew up in our neighborhoods.

Cain Clark, 17, and Caleb Velasquez, 18 —carried out a terror attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego on the first day of Dhul Hijjah, one of the holiest periods in the Islamic calendar
They livestreamed the shooting, left behind a manifesto, and had “broad hatred toward Black and Jewish people.”
FBI seized 30 firearms and a crossbow from their homes. Three people were murdered, including a security guard who protected children.
These two are exactly where they belong — dead by their own hands.

For months the school claimed her sweet son was “abusive” and ignored her requests to observe the classroom. On May 13, she hid a camera in his ponytail.
What she found was nothing short of HORRIFIC.
The footage captures Robert Ransdell aggressively approaching her son after the main teacher left the room — followed by her child’s screams.

🚨 Man with over 40 convictions keeps getting released and returning to downtown Raleigh streets to commit more crimes.
Brice Forman has been convicted over 40 times, yet he keeps getting released and returning to the streets. Predators and repeat offenders like this are getting bolder, and our communities are paying the price.
This is why I always say: the system is failing us. These monsters are walking among us, and they're getting more ruthless by the day.
How many more crimes have to be committed before we start locking these repeat offenders up for life?
