@KurtisHanni @MatScouts1 My thought as well, I think it was only ever taught in my Oklahoma History class and you get a short reference to it in Grapes of Wrath. I think it’s lost most connotation and just sounds a bit bad compared to others like OK state in my opinion

@KurtisHanni @MatScouts1 Personally don’t care other than it sounding bad, but the term Okie was used as a derogatory term for people fleeing the Dust Bowl. Seems like most have forgotten that, I’d guess it was only ever taught in Oklahoma classrooms.

@MatScouts1 I’m an Ok State fan and alum and have no idea why people get offended by that. It’s really weird how much some hate it.

@hoosierhiptoss @SpeakIven It definitely varies person to person, but Okie was a derivative term for people who were fleeing Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl. Doesn’t quite have the connotation it used to but still can be a sore spot for some.

Teams I tend to root for besides IU 1. Okie state 2.Northern Iowa 3. Nebraska

@steakisgood2 @osuzack Late in the BYU-OSU game last night, the crowd was chanting something regarding BYU - the disagreement is if it was F* the Mormons or Refs are Mormons… given that the crowd thought the refs missed a couple foul calls in a row I’d lean toward the latter.

Coach Meacham on the duty split between him and Rob Glass: “He helps a lot… he’s handling a lot of the administrative-type things… he’s a Chief of Staff, handling a lot of the stuff Mike handled. It frees me up to focus on the team.” Could be a good plan for the future!
