I think it would be great if the Women’s Open was played at Prestwick Golf Club. It wouldn’t be bottlenecked as much by the restrictions to infrastructure.

The original yardages for @BelleairCC’s East and West Course in 1914. The West Course was planned for 6218 yards & the East Course 5763 yards (which I believe is the shortest 18 hole golf course ever designed by Donald Ross. @DonaldRossSocie

@BoBromhal @pobrienhpgcc @THELastOne_Turf @JimRyanGCDesign @LeyCompany Great question: the last ~25’ or so is a massive false front. Many balls would be putted into the creek from the green or roll back into the water after carrying the creek by ~25’. Felt overly penal on an already difficult course. Just my feel/judgement call at the time.

@andrewjcarr29 @BendelowGreens @cbadair21 @PE_Dahl @MidwestGolfJake Davenport/Wakonda/CRCC (in any order, on any given day), Harvester, Elmwood, Veenker? @andrewjcarr29 re: Wakonda comment - it has been put back to L&M w/ bunkers identical to Lawsonia and fun greens. I’m sad it hasn’t seen the love it should. The land and routing is incredible.

@BendelowGreens @cbadair21 @PE_Dahl @MidwestGolfJake All that's to say that Harvester is a wonderfully conditioned course and the club itself is great, but the course is at best behind CRCC and Davenport and at worst (if @TylerRaeDesign & Wakonda fully leans into a restoration) 4th.

Big hot take Harvester at #4??? @BendelowGreens, this can't be right @MidwestGolfJake, where I'd Elmwood. Why the heck do they only rank 5 courses. There are plenty of great options in Iowa golf.com/travel/best-go…

@TylerRaeDesign Picture 3 is the 11th at YGC with 12 tee in background. There is a series of YGC photos and in the middle was a sequence of NGLA photos.

Cool side story,The historic pictures are gold. In the series there are several pics from NGLA. Seth Raynor is pictured surveying NGLA to then recreate the templates at YGC. I was able to scan the prints in 2004,enlarge them and reveal the sequence.
