You don’t have to get paid to do that. Some of the best journalism today has been from independents who have investigated what institutions like the WP have failed to do for decades. If anything, NYT/WP brass hold investigative journalists back. Those fired journalists are now able to actually investigate without their editors giving them rails because they’re in the pockets of a party. They’re more free to expose anything they want now.

It is almost like billionaires and world leaders would prefer the entire media doesn't even exist so that they can remove all accountability from their universe.

My point is sometimes you’re better off with more talent across the board. The Eagles don’t have a single player of Micah Parsons caliber on their defense. They’ve been to 2 super bowls in what 4 years? They’ve done it by spreading their resources out and building a unit that can compete on all 3 levels. Meanwhile we’ve had elite CB play and no run D. Or elite run D and piss poor CB play. Our LB room has been consistently inconsistent. It seems like you think that what I’m saying is “nobody should sign a guy like Micah Parsons and instead they should sign a bunch of different guys”. What I’m actually saying is at this point in time Micah wasn’t worth the money

Which is why the Micah trade was just so, so bad. We can debate the ultimate idea of paying Parsons or swapping him for Quinnen (and stuff). But, where the logic takes a vacation is the when/where and how the Jones Boys were willing to sabotage 2025 as a whole to do it.
