Senior experts can spot the differences in this gun at a glance. This is the first-generation product after the Chinese stamped-receiver Type-56 was finalized. It does not have a magazine locating dimple, nor does it have a supporting sleeve and rivets. Because the receiver of this model was prone to deformation, a large number of them were returned by the military after production. After repairs, they were issued as equipment for the militia and have remained in use to this day.

A Type-56 marked with the 386 factory crest. From the photos, the area around the serial number appears to have been deliberately defaced, and the subsequent digits do not follow standard numbering rules. This rifle has an additional rear sling swivel compared to normal 386 factory products, and this style of rear sling swivel has only appeared in Myanmar. This gun is somewhat suspicious; it could be a copy of a 386 product, a refurbished one, or possibly assembled in Myanmar from loose parts.
