Tucked quietly into Old Town, Key West, just around the block from where we were staying, Little Pearl felt like a hidden gem the moment we walked in. David and I were visiting his uncle Tom and aunt Marcia, and on our last evening we strolled over together for dinner. The restaurant is tiny but charming, with an intimate dining room that feels like a neighborhood spot that takes its food very seriously. The atmosphere was lively and, at times, a bit noisy, but it never took away from the enjoyment of the evening. The restaurant is known for its chef-driven tasting menu – a thoughtfully curated multi-course experience highlighting fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients with global influences. That night we enjoyed a beautifully executed four-course dinner. We all ordered different dishes, and the table quickly turned into a delicious round of sharing and sampling. A few highlights for me included a delicate hamachi crudo, fresh and perfectly balanced – the kind of dish that immediately sets the tone for the evening. The steamed mussels were another standout, deeply flavorful and comforting. For my main course, I chose the finned fare, which showcased the kitchen’s strong focus on seafood and was expertly prepared. I also sampled David’s New Zealand venison strip loin, which was tender, rich, and perfectly cooked. Dessert was pure indulgence – a warm brownie with salted caramel gelato, the perfect sweet ending to a meal that felt both refined and relaxed. What stood out most was the confidence of the kitchen. Each course felt thoughtful and well composed without being overly complicated, just excellent ingredients prepared with care. All in all, it was a wonderful evening – a charming little restaurant, a beautifully executed tasting menu, and the simple joy of sharing great food with family. Exactly the kind of travel dining experience I’m always hoping to find. #SashaInTheKeys #CulinaryGlobetrotter
