@UK_Daniel_Card I've had three Alienware laptops, not one of them ever crashed from heat, in fact I had one last 20 years and it was still useable, I only got rid as Microsoft made it so you couldn't go to Windows 11. That said a desktop is best for games...

Are all gaming laptops this bad?

Ireland has bought some counter-drone kit but it's unclear if it's decent or not. There are some people over that way with their heads screwed on, so fingers crossed. We're still waiting for the Navy video which will be sh*t show.

In honour of William Shatner’s 95th birthday, I've just watched Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)... again. The Mutara Nebula battle is still stunning, and presenting starships-as-submarines running blind is pure genius. It doesn’t get much better than this.

@UKDefJournal In truth this just sounds like marketing PR from BAE. Every CUAS system is command and control software talking to hardware and some already use a range of protocols like SAPIENT so you can bolt on whichever sensors you want.

@finlay171020 @MickWest The key Lakenheath report was a bloke, a member of the public who called the police. Wright-Patterson was security staff, though they too reported aircraft. The ONLY way you get a credible drone report is optically with something like EO/IR. x.com/UAVHive/status…

Historically, "lights on drones", during any of the last couple of years of drone panics, suggests not that they are testing security (why would they use lights if they won't use them in an attack?) but rather that many sightings are actually distant planes. Yes, this happens
