Yesterday, I had the privilege of engaging with our valued stakeholders and providing industry players with an update on the current state of Uganda's aviation industry. Here’s a summary of the key points I shared

Today, Deputy High Commissioner @KirlewTiffany and Director General of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Fred Bamwesigye, @UCAA_DG, attended the closing ceremony of a week of capacity building and technical assistance provided by the UK Government at Entebbe Airport. @UCAA_DG, Fred Bamwesigye, said “Uganda highly appreciates the capacity building and continued cooperation with UK, which is one of the top four destinations for passengers departing Uganda. We have over the years enjoyed cordial and mutually beneficial relations.” DHC @KirlewTiffany said “We enjoy close collaboration on the shared goal of economic growth and prosperity through trade, investment and tourism.”

A full-scale exercise to test stakeholders' readiness to respond to a security bomb threat has been held at Entebbe Int’l Airport today. The security exercise is a mandatory requirement for airports of @icao member states to test their emergency contingency response plans.

I promise that the case will be handled in confidence, if you deem it appropriate. I am very sorry that it happened, please help us to fight it. We do not want to grow this monster that threatens our well-known efforts to build excellent customer/passenger experience.

As a matter of fact, many of those we have discovered have been disciplined & a good number have had their contracts terminated. This is to request that you shade more light on this by way of DM, with a specific case indicating time, airline & the victims if you can. 3/4

Thank you for this information, @SpireJim. We are looking for concrete evidence of such. If you remember, we availed contacts of key senior officials in the airport for immediate contact once such a thing happens. 1/4

The likely people who could be involved in this vice are immigration, specific airline officials or security. Although many of them are not directly under our supervision, we are still the key airport operators & we developed a mechanism for handling such corrupt practices. 2/4

I met with a group of 190 students undertaking internship at @UgandaCAA this morning. I motivated them to be disciplined, shared on key aspects in the aviation industry and urged them to utilise the opportunity to gain practical experience & impress potential future employers.
