In Germany, teaching the Holocaust is mandatory. It includes visits to concentration camp, museums, etc. They don’t shy away from their own ugly history. Yet the kids aren’t damaged; they’re strengthened, matured, humbled. US needs to do same re slavery. Not that complicated.

Yesterday a guy in Nville told me the Church is a mess, etc. I happened to mention that, yes, we can’t say we love God and hate our neighbors. He answered, “See that’s the problem. That’s CRT!” I responded, “That’s the Apostle John.” Our “mess” is a formation/discipleship crisis.

The Bible isn’t a conservative or progressive manifesto. Jesus wasn’t serving a partisan cause. Christians should ask ourselves if we’re primarily viewing the world through a biblical or ideological lens. How much is our identity shaped by partisanship at the expense of faith?

This morning, Fr. David Hudgins died in a car accident. He was 52 years old. We shared a rectory for 3 years & they were amazing years because of his goodness. He was filled with joy, fueled by prayer & humbly obscured his razor sharp intellect with great humor. We are devastated
