➡️The US healthcare system spends >70% of their budget on chronic disease.

➡️There are 69 accredited Preventive Medicine Fellowships however only 47 fellowship slots receive federal funding; the other slots have to find funding from non federal resources and many times do not find funding. ➡️ We advocated to increase fellowship slots from 47 to 175.

💡Did you know?💡 ➡️Preventive Medicine Physicians are “uniquely trained in both clinical medicine and public health to promote health and wellbeing.”- @ACPM_HQ

During the @ACPM_HQ annual conference, our fellows participated in Hill Day, where they advocated for the Preventive Medicine speciality by asking for federal financial support to train more physicians in Preventive Medicine.

Congratulations to our Prev Med-ID fellow @cclautredou on her recent publication! In 3yrs, most ppl w/ positive anti-HEV IgM in LA County didn’t meet the definition of acute HEV. Consider restricting HEV testing for ppl w/clinical s/sx or epi risk factors! @DOM_UCLA @UCLA_ID
