@UHoepp I don’t think so? I’ve traveled to over 15+ countries in the last 4 years, last three specifically and I’ve never had it be this intense. And I’m a pretty regular user of STEP & state department.

Trump declares almost 50% of Americans to be public enemy number one – right after Iran. This is no longer politics; this is open civil war from the mouth of a president. Anyone who brands half of their own people – millions of ordinary Americans who simply vote differently – as the "greatest enemy" hasn't understood America; Trump hates it. This rhetoric isn't "tough," it's treacherous. It destroys precisely what makes America strong: the idea that Americans, despite all their differences, are one nation. Trump has just proven that he doesn't want to be president of all Americans – but merely the leader of a faction that considers the rest the enemy. Insane. And extremely dangerous.

Heard this from multiple people I know in Europe: Bringing Trump back (after Jan 6, etc) broke their faith in the American electorate. And they can't allow long-term trust (and alliances, etc) if voters in, say, Wisconsin might go insane every other election.

@AlessioTMAD If the US pulls off this Iran caper, then decides to leave NATO, do they need European bases if they're no longer protecting Europe? Maybe a couple. There are enough European countries willing to rent bases to the US, being in NATO wouldn't matter.

Yet reports say that the US carriers are not in the Gulf, but "in the region". The US should show the leadership it talks about and deploy its ships.

There is absolutely no point in Europeans sending their navies to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, since the U.S. has already won the war with Iran numerous times, and, as you know, the allies will stay a little back, a little off the front lines.
