For nearly 20 years, Jean Redlinger has worked in the College of Dentistry, becoming a cornerstone for the Department of Family Dentistry. For many reasons, her impact on the college is immeasurable and for that, Jean is a most deserving Ambassador for the College. Congrats!

Success! This past week Dr. Carissa Comnick successfully defended her dissertation, "Bayesian Modeling of Dental Caries Progression Over Time in the Oral Cavity Space." The project was mentored by Jin Xie, associate dean for research, and Brian Smith, professor of biostatistics.

🥳 We would like to congratulate third-year dental student Zachary Graham on being named a 2023 Tillman Scholar by The Pat Tillman Foundation. The scholarship identifies remarkable veterans as the next generation of leaders.

Our Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) students got to work on teamwork and leadership skills at the UI Challenge Course this weekend!

In 2016, @uicod completed an important renovation, which resulted in a state-of-the-art educational and clinical facility. The facilities have built a foundation for high quality dental education in Iowa for the next 30+ years 🦷🪥

Congratulations to Sara Miller of @UICOD on receiving this year's Distinguished Research Professional Award. Sara has helped to create inter-collegiate collaborations by working alongside the Colleges of Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Medicine.

Congratulations to Azeez Butali in @uicod for receiving the Leadership in Research Award. Butali is involved in the investigation of orofacial clefts and examines the role of micronutrients in oral cleft prevention.

The 6-v-6 game high school girls once played “really united the community,” Heddens said. The same is true today for the Hawkeye women who — playing a faster, different style of ball — became the only women’s UI basketball team to make the NCAA finals. thegazette.com/higher-educati…
