I can run 32-64k context windows on my 5090 today using 30B or 70B models. Specialized cards for inference are coming, along with better models, model compression, and general hardware improvements. It's not there today to be useful for the kind of terrorism I'm talking about. But that probably won't be the case in 3-5 years.

@SplinterGoggles @thinkingshivers Unless you have a cluster of 10 4090 gpus you won’t be able to run models with a useful context window. You can ask basic questions on a 40B model but anything else will quickly hallucinate and become unusable

@thinkingshivers Local LLMs are the future, they won't be able to lock anyone out long term. This is also why bad guys in caves will be able to produce weapons, chemicals and diseases in a few years they otherwise would have never been able to.
