How does human mobility affect climate change? .@UNDPSPC hosted a Knowledge Exchange Session on this topic with Sieun Lee, National Programme Officer at IOM Republic of Korea (@UNmigration). Over lunch, colleagues discussed issues of climate change, humanitarian response and human mobility, drawing on Sieun's decade of experience across IOM HQ and the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. 🌏️

🇰🇷🇱🇰 #SriLanka generates over 10,000 tons of municipal solid waste daily, of which only half is collected and very little properly treated. The remainder is often dumped or burned openly-creating serious environmental, health and social risks. Recent climate-induced disasters, including #CycloneDitwah, have further strained waste management systems and exposed the vulnerabilities of frontline waste workers.
