Today, RCC Secretary General @amer_kap co-chaired the annual Meeting of the Regional Steering Group on Small Arms and Light Weapons #SALW, alongside @UN Assistant Secretary-General, @UNDP Assistant Administrator & @UNDPEurasia Director @Ivana_Zivkovic_ ⏭️ Meeting brought together governments, international organisations, and partners from across #SouthEastEurope to advance shared security agenda and take stock of RCC & UNDP’s joint initiative @UNDP_SEESAC. In his opening remarks RCC SG underlined that SALW Control Roadmap, as a regionally endorsed mechanism is now a globally recognised best practice in arms control. He also commended @UNDP_SEESAC @BalonBojana for their results, widely recognised both across the region and at the international level. ‼️ In 2025 alone, #SEESAC donated over 2 million USD in specialised equipment, supported the destruction of 4,100 weapons, and helped the region respond effectively. Cooperation is not just a policy priority, it is a matter of real safety for people across SEE. RCC remains fully committed to this partnership 👉🏻 for a safer region. #poweredbyRCC 🇪🇺

Since 2014, over 25,000 firearm-related incidents have been recorded across the Western Balkans through SEESAC’s AVMP 👇 Between 2019–2024 alone: 2,000+ injured, 2,600+ threatened, nearly 800 killed.
