In my opening statement at the Ministerial Segment of the #HLPF, I called on the international community to make the remaining years to 2030 a delivery cycle - not another reporting cycle. The #SDGs remain our shared blueprint for ending poverty, reducing inequalities, protecting our planet, and restoring hope through international cooperation. I participated today in the 9th High-Level Local and Regional Governments Forum and I stressed that, “The next phase of SDG implementation must be defined by delivery - moving from commitments to measurable action, strengthening partnerships across all levels of government, and ensuring solutions reach the communities where they are needed most. The success of the #2030Agenda will ultimately be measured not by the ambitions we express, but by the realities people experience in their daily lives. That is why local leadership is indispensable.” #HLPF2026 #SDGs #GlobalGoals

Met today with H.E. Mr. Christo Polendakov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, on the margins of #HLPF2026. We underscored the important role of ECOSOC in advancing inclusive multilateralism, as well as the importance of multilateral cooperation and stronger partnerships to accelerate the implementation of the #2030Agenda. We also discussed the value of Voluntary National Reviews in promoting peer learning and strengthening implementation efforts to accelerate progress on the #SDGs in the lead-up to the 2027 SDG Summit. #GlobalGoals

Today, I addressed the launch of the 2026 #SOFI Report at #HLPF2026. As I noted, “when families cannot afford healthy food, the challenge is no longer only about nutrition. It is about poverty. It is about inequality. It is about health, education and opportunity.” We must now translate analysis into concrete action to ensure that everyone can afford a healthy diet. Access to healthy food is fundamental to human dignity and essential to delivering on the promise to leave no one behind. #2030Agenda #ZeroHunger

Pleased to meet with the members of the delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI) and Committee on Development (DEVE) during #HLPF2026. We discussed the importance of multilateral cooperation, stronger partnerships, and sustainable financing to accelerate progress on the SDGs. I also highlighted ECOSOC’s role in bringing together governments, the UN system, international financial institutions and other stakeholders to translate global commitments into coordinated action and tangible results. I look forward to continued collaboration with the European Parliament as we work towards the 2027 SDG Summit and the realization of the #2030Agenda.

Pleased to chair monthly meeting with the Major Groups and other Stakeholders (#MGoS), held in person during the #HLPF after our regular virtual engagements throughout my Presidency. I reaffirmed that inclusive, meaningful and sustained stakeholder engagement is indispensable to advancing the #SDGs and strengthening multilateral cooperation. I also thanked MGoS for their invaluable contributions to the Partnership Forum, Youth Forum, Financing for Development Forum, STI Forum and HLPF, and for their constructive partnership throughout my Presidency. #GlobalGoals

I participated today in the event on “Accelerating Energy Systems Innovation and Transition for Equity and Resilience to Advance Global Sustainable Development,” where I stressed that #SDG7 is more than one goal among many, it is an enabler of the entire #2030Agenda. Accelerating energy transitions is both an urgent necessity and a major opportunity. We must ensure that the transition is equitable, resilient and inclusive through greater investment, innovation, capacity-building and international cooperation, so that no country is left behind.

Delighted to meet H.E. Ms. Pemmy Majodina, Minister of Water and Sanitation of South Africa. I appreciated South Africa’s leadership in advancing the global water agenda and preparations for the 2026 UN Water Conference. We held discussions on the importance of mobilizing investments, technology transfer, supporting innovation and capacity-building to accelerate progress on SDG 6. We also exchanged views on climate-resilient water action and strengthening partnerships to advance the #2030Agenda. #SDG6
