#PoshanPakhwada 2026 reminds us that children’s early dietary habits don’t form in isolation. Sedentary time and excessive screens affect nutrition, attention, language and cognition. Evidence shows kids exposed to TV/food ads consume more calories—highlighting the need for parents and communities to shape healthier habits and digital environments. @MinistryWCD #First6YearsOfLife

The golden hour of every newborn’s life. The first hour after birth is when every child should receive colostrum—mother’s first milk. A lifelong shield, protecting against infections and building strong immunity. #First6YearsOfLife @PMOIndia | @Annapurna4BJP | @savitrii4bjp

Your carbon footprint is the mark you leave on Earth's climate with every step. A carbon footprint measures the total greenhouse gas emissions from an individual, organization, or product through activities such as driving, using electricity, and consuming goods. It highlights how our daily actions impact the environment. #ClimateDictionary

450 young people from five states, aged 12 to 22, actively engaged in discussions and debates on climate, environment, and peace—key issues shaping their futures and the world. The dialogue emphasized the importance of linking local action with global policy to drive meaningful change. UNICEF has been engaging and working with the young Model United Nations team of IIIT for the last 3 years on young people leadership and action for change.

13-year-old Ashmi from Rajasthan heads to school. The man behind her is her grandfather, Ratansingh. He's the one making sure she gets there. Ratansingh didn't grow up in a world that made much space for girls' education. But he knows what opportunity looks like, and he's determined that Ashmi won't miss hers. He believes, simply and firmly, that education is the path to a bright future for her. That kind of family support changes everything. But it works best when there's something to support it, schools that stay open, programmes that keep girls enrolled, communities that are shown, again and again, that educating a girl is worth it. When girls are given real platforms to learn, to grow, to be seen as capable of more, they don't just rise to the occasion, they bring their families with them. # ForEveryChild, education

#ForEveryChild, development

Bhoj, as it’s known, is the local tradition in Odisha of celebrating a girl’s first period. Relatives come over, there’s music and dancing for seven continuous days to welcome a girl into womanhood. It’s also considered a sign that she is ready to get married. In 2019, the Govt. of Odisha, in collaboration with UNICEF, launched a five-year Strategic Action Plan to eliminate child marriage in the state by 2030. Advika aims to prevent child marriage through various strategies, including strengthening state structures and mechanisms, facilitating meetings and discussions between different departments, raising awareness about child protection issues, empowering adolescents, and community involvement.

On the 8th Poshan Pakhwada starting today, the spotlight is once again is on maternal and child nutrition and how the first 1,000 days lay a critical foundation for a child’s lifelong growth and development. Nurturing the critical window does not rest on mothers alone – both parents and families must play an equal role! #First6YearsOfLife @MinistryWCD @Annapurna4BJP

In the village of Kotdi, 30-year-old Shanti Bai and her seven-year-old daughter, Garima, now fill water from the tap now installed at their home — a transformation made possible by the rural water supply scheme initiated under the #JalJeevanMission. With a functional household tap connection, safe water now flows directly to their doorstep, easing daily burdens and encouraging better health and dignity #ForEveryChild.
