Andrea Egan UNISON General Secretary
Once again, Trump has unleashed brutal violence on a nation to control its resources in flagrant violation of international law. We need clear, unflinching opposition to this from the Government. Crucial protest in London at 3.30pm👇
Stop the War Coalition@STWuk

We condemn the murderous and reckless acts of the US and Israel and call on our groups and supporters to organise protests. If you're in London get to Downing Street for 3.30 TODAY

@unisontheunion @AndreaEganGS You don't put women workers first. In fact you've shamefully abandoned women & sided with employers prioritising the demands of men to access female spaces. You're an 'incredible force for change' in taking women's rights backwards @AndreaEganGS

NHS trusts cutting nearly 2,000 nurses has deadly consequences. Studies of 122 trusts show lower registered nurse hours per patient link to higher death rates. Cheaper support staff cannot replace skilled nurses, patients are literally paying the price. thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/…

@CatHobbs @Andrea4GS @unisontheunion Maybe privatisation of some areas of the NHS will be a good thing. At the moment we could shovel money forever at the biggest employer in the country, and it still won't be enough.

Brilliant to see this statement from @Andrea4GS new General Secretary of @unisontheunion “Wes Streeting? Anybody that thinks he’s going to try and save the NHS, I’ve got some magic beans for you, because he’s not. He is privatising the NHS now.” 💯🎯🔥 politicshome.com/news/article/u…

The rules around hunger strikes are that they must do everything possible to address and resolve the demands. That has NOT been done. To save their lives, they must meet and respond to the demands.
Howard Beckett@BeckettUnite

Starmer asked if he will instruct justice ministers to meet representatives of 🇵🇸 hunger strikers Starmer’s reply: ‘There are rules & procedures for hunger strikers and we are following those’ Presumably the rules set by Thatcher Starmer is damned.

RMT demands urgent action to protect rights of remand prisoners on hunger strike RMT has called on the government to immediately intervene to protect the lives of remand prisoners currently on hunger strike. The prisoners have now been without food for more than 40 days, giving rise to serious concerns about their health, welfare, and the duty of care responsibilities of the authorities. RMT General Secretary Eddie Dempsey said: “The government must immediately intervene to protect the lives of hunger strikers taking action in support of Palestine. "Regardless of the allegations against these individuals, the authorities have a clear obligation to ensure humane treatment and to protect life. “These are fundamental principles of justice in Britain, that must be upheld at all times. "The government must act now to protect lives and meet with the prisoners’ legal representatives without delay.” RMT will continue to work alongside the wider trade union movement and politicians to press the government to uphold its responsibilities and ensure that human rights and basic standards of decency are fully respected.
