@kathmurray1 No. UNISON does not object to mixed-sex/all-gender facilities being available alongside single-sex facilities. The issue is whether anyone is pushed out of facilities they’re entitled to use and treated differently as a result.

@UNISONPSS Does UNISON object to single-sex facilities if mixed-sex facilities are also made available?

The branch wrote to all members this morning. The employer delayed responding, UNISON is not prepared to leave staff without a clear answer any longer.

Deeply disappointing that SPA employed police staff will not receive the one-off bank holiday on 15 June. Cost is cited as £6.7m, with no extra Scottish Government funding. UNISON repeatedly sought answers, but the employer failed to engage in a timely and transparent way.

UNISON is deeply disappointed that the @HMICS conduct and discipline report cannot now be published until after the Scottish election. Staff deserve transparency, scrutiny and accountability, not delay.

@kathmurray1 Perhaps 140 characters is not ideal for nuance, but as the tweet says, a closure report does not mean member concerns have been resolved.

@theSNP Fantastic! Are Scot Gov paying for it and police staff can expect the same?

@kathmurray1 The point s not opposition to women’s spaces. It is concern that how policies are applied. UNISON’s position is about safety, dignity and fair treatment for all members.

@UNISONPSS But doesn’t support single-sex spaces (as per the article)? That puts women at a disadvantage.

@ScotPolAuth board underlined a familiar problem: big promises on reform, estates and workforce planning, police staff still being asked to carry the strain. Forensic Services under headcount, demand is high, and health & safety concerns brushed aside. Staff need action, not spin

Policy closure is not union closure. UNISON can still challenge risks around dignity, confidentiality, stereotyping and inclusion at work.

UNISON can argue this paper risks exclusion, stigma and binary erasure of non-binary staff. Review closed does not mean concerns closed.

Police Scotland cannot credibly argue that it should dispose of buildings/rationalise the estate for best value, and imply office attendance is required as a matter of culture or preference. It reinforces the case for a modern, evidence-based hybrid model rather than undermine it

Before estate plans progress, there must be meaningful trade union engagement, proper workforce and equality impact assessment, and transparency on relocations and closures. Police staff are employees who keep services running, not an afterthought.
