The memories of my visit to Potočari last year remain vivid. Meeting families of the victims of the #Srebrenica genocide was a profound reminder that remembrance is not only about the past, but about the future we choose to build where 'Never Again' is more than a promise.

Genocide does not begin with mass graves. It begins with hatred, discrimination, dehumanization, and attempts to divide people into “us” and “them.” At the observance of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica held in the General Assembly Hall, we mourned more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys murdered in 1995, and honoured the survivors and families who continue to carry the wounds of genocide. “Never Again” needs to be a promise to remember, to deliver justice and dignity, and to act when we see the warning signs.
