On Memorial Day at Cambridge American Cemetery, Harriet and I, joined by our family, paid tribute to the Americans who died in service to our country. This cemetery helps maintain our connection to those who died in the Second World War: a war that saw the United States and United Kingdom fight side-by-side with our allies to achieve victory. Most importantly, it reminds us of the price of freedom, the need to savor, protect and preserve the liberty we have today, because others died to defend it. My thanks to @usabmc Commissioner John Freeman, Lord-Lieutenant Mrs. Julie Spence, Major General Akshai Gandhi, and all the distinguished guests for coming together to remember our fallen heroes.

The U.S. Embassy in London and the Consulates General in Edinburgh, Belfast, and Hamilton will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026 for Memorial Day. On Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Consul Tammy Nobilski attended a launch event at Glasgow Airport for United Airlines’ new direct service between Glasgow and Newark Liberty International Airport. This new route further strengthens air connectivity between Scotland and the United States, supporting tourism, business links, and people-to-people ties.

During #Freedom250, we’re not only celebrating the birth of our nation, but our truly unique partnership with the UK. It was fantastic to be a part of the send-off organized by the Greater Together campaign for a trade delegation to visit LA, to promote & build on our nations’ links in tourism, creative, tech, manufacturing, & life sciences sectors. These collaborations make both our nations safer, stronger, & more prosperous. 🇺🇸🇬🇧 We look forward to seeing more about this exciting endeavor!

In celebration of Freedom 250, I spoke with Robert Hardman about the enduring strength of the U.S.-UK relationship and the history that binds us. We had on display a “Dunlap print” of the Declaration of Independence, the first copies to be produced on the night of July 4, 1776. It reminds us that America is unique in world history for being a nation established not on the bonds of geography, cultural identity or a conquering leader – but on words and ideas. Many of those ideals, the belief in free nations, free people, and free markets, we share with the UK.

Today marks exactly one year since Harriet and I arrived in the UK, and what a year it has been! From trade deals, two visits to the UK from President Trump, including an historic second State Visit, to hosting the Vice President, the Speaker of the House, eight Cabinet secretaries, and a host of senior officials. Throughout it all, I have been working to deliver @POTUS @RealDonaldTrump’s priorities of making Americans safer, stronger, and more prosperous through our work with the UK, while affirming the shared values that bind our countries. As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, I am excited to lead @USAinUK in continuing to build on these strong foundations in the coming year. There is truly no partnership like ours, and I am honored to serve and strengthen it every day as U.S. Ambassador to the UK.

It was a great honor for Harriet and me to join the State Visit hosted by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcoming Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla to Washington. In this 250th anniversary year of America’s independence, this memorable visit was a powerful reminder that our two nations, born of conflict and shaped by shared history, remain united by common values and enduring friendship. As the President said: “Thank you to our friends, the United Kingdom, for the richest inheritance that any nation has given to another.”

Outraged by the appalling terrorist attack in Golders Green today. This repeated targeting of the Jewish community is an attack on the values of decency and religious freedom that all democracies must come together to defend. Our prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and the wider Jewish community.
