Pope Leo XIV has accepted the resignation of Bishop Frank J. Dewane, 76, from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Venice, and has appointed Reverend Emilio Biosca Agüero, OFM Cap., as Bishop of Venice. Father Biosca is a member of the Capuchin Franciscan Friars of the Province of Saint Augustine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and currently serves as pastor of the Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Washington, D.C.





Father Robert P. Boxie, III and Father Gary R. Studniewski, both priests of the Archdiocese of Washington, will receive episcopal consecration as auxiliary bishops for the same archdiocese today at 2:00 PM local time at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The principal consecrator will be His Eminence Robert Cardinal McElroy, Archbishop of Washington. The principal co-consecrators will be His Eminence Wilton Cardinal Gregory, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, and the Most Rev. Mark E. Brennan, Bishop Emeritus of Wheeling-Charleston.


Cardinal Burke ordained four new priests for the Institute of Christ the King and High Priest, in the church of Saints Michael and Cajetan, in Florence.
