The United States commends the Nigerian government for its strong commitment to expediting trials addressing terrorism and related crimes. We welcome the convictions of 386 Islamist militants in cases that had previously faced significant delays in the courts, and we recognize this as an important step toward accountability and justice. We believe that timely and transparent legal processes are critical in confronting extremism and reinforcing public trust in judicial institutions. Upholding the rule of law remains essential to ensuring the safety, stability, and long-term security of all Nigerians, and we support continued efforts to strengthen judicial efficiency and fairness across the country.

Over 300 participants from 30 American Spaces across Nigeria joined our “Freedom 250: Economic Excellence in Agribusiness” webinar—advancing the Trump administration's vision for a once-in-a-generation celebration that showcases American economic strength and innovation. 🇺🇸🌾 Organized by U.S. Mission Nigeria with USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service and the Office of U.S. Speaker Programs, U.S. expert Jessica Rudolph shared practical, America-led insights on building resilient agribusiness ecosystems, attracting investment, and expanding private-sector opportunity in Nigeria’s emerging agro‑industrial zones. By connecting entrepreneurs, exchange alumni, investors, accelerators, and policymakers, this program highlighted U.S. leadership in agribusiness, advanced Freedom 250’s focus on prosperity and the “golden age of opportunity”, and reinforced an America First approach to the U.S.–Nigeria commercial partnership in agriculture—delivering reciprocal benefits for both our nations.

We were thrilled to welcome Dr. Omoju Miller, a renowned Nigerian-American computer scientist and startup founder as part of the U.S. Speaker Program. In Abuja and Lagos, Dr. Miller engaged with leaders across tech, creative, business, education, and policy sectors sharing her expertise on Artificial Intelligence, building sustainable tech ecosystems, and empowering the next generation of innovators. During her visit, Dr. Miller highlighted how U.S.-Nigeria collaboration in technology and innovation can expand when young people seize the growing opportunities in the digital economy and develop their skills in AI. Alongside Dr. Miller, American tech companies based in Nigeria emphasized their role in setting the gold standard in AI development. Their insights inspired conversations about tech development, and the critical role Nigerian youth can play in shaping the future of technology and the U.S.-Nigeria commercial relationship. The U.S. Speaker Program is a U.S. Department of State exchange program that brings prominent American experts from diverse fields to engage with new audiences and exchange ideas with professionals around the world. #USinNigeria
