Congratulations to Assistant Chief Jeremy Benoit on graduating from the Police Executive Research Forum's Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP), Session 98! SMIP is one of the nation's premier executive leadership programs for law enforcement, bringing together senior police leaders from across the country for an intensive three-week course focused on leadership, organizational strategy, critical thinking, and executive development. Throughout the program, participants learn from university faculty, experienced police executives, and private-sector leaders while exploring the evolving challenges facing modern public safety organizations. The experience equips leaders with new perspectives and practical strategies to strengthen their agencies and better serve their communities. We are proud of Assistant Chief Benoit's commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning. Officer Iván Ramos recently represented The University of Texas at Austin Police Department in Spain as part of the STAR International Police Exchange Program, joining law enforcement professionals from around the world to exchange knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and share best practices in policing. The program provides officers with the opportunity to participate in ride-alongs, observe policing strategies firsthand, and collaborate on topics including public safety, traffic enforcement, intervention tactics, and impaired driving detection. Experiences like these strengthen international partnerships while bringing new ideas and perspectives back to our campus community. The program featured former Vice President Mike Pence in conversation with Mark K. Updegrove, Chairman and CEO of the LBJ Foundation.
