Reports of someone threatening people with a weapon in West Campus overnight are unsubstantiated. UTPD and Austin Police investigated concerns expressed on social media and found no firsthand information. Your safety is our highest priority. While there is no threat to campus, our officers are positioned 24/7 to patrol, provide support, answer questions, and respond to any concerns. You will continue to see enhanced patrols this week across the University and in the West Campus. If you were a witness to the reported information from last night (3-2-26) please contact UTPD so that the information can be followed up on. If you see something please say something.

Last week, the University of Texas at Austin Police Department held its annual awards ceremony recognizing the professionalism, leadership, and contributions of our personnel.
The awards honor individuals whose work reflects the standards, values, and responsibility that guide our department in supporting public safety, campus operations, and service to the UT community. We also recognized Assistant Chief Chris Miller for more than a decade of distinguished service and leadership with UTPD, and for his lasting impact on our department.
We thank @JimDavis_UT for joining us in recognizing the outstanding work of our personnel and for his continued support of campus safety.
Congratulations to this year’s award recipients and thank you to all of UTPD for your continued dedication to the university community.
