I’ve spent much of the last weeks thinking about how we relate to one another as students, educators & professionals. Like many, I am disturbed by systematic efforts to silence pro-Palestinian politics in the name of safety. Some tentative thoughts about how such claims work.🧵

This is vile. Jewish immigration lawyer here. If you are worried that your immigration status is at risk because you have expressed solidarity with Palestinians, please get in touch.

JEWS SAY: STOP THE GENOCIDE OF PALESTINIANS! Over two-thousand Jews protested in front of the offices and homes of elected officials in NYC, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, Indiana, Florida, and Los Angeles to demand action to prevent the genocide of Palestinians.

Our full statement on last week's Ombudsman report on 2021's encampment evictions: shorturl.at/oJRX7 What this report has to offer our movement lies in what it reveals about the factors that made the City change course, and how that can inform our struggles ahead.

Ford's cruel cuts to uninsured healthcare mean a return to the past: - Pregnant women will be asked for cash in labour - Children will be denied care for serious injuries - Elderly people will delay care with heart attacks I have seen all of this, and I worry I will see it again

Some horrible news. One of our students printed and distributed some flyers with concerns about CUE owning a mansion while also firing a number of our student facing staff. Today that student was pulled into a meeting with the Admin who promptly fired them from their student job.

This is precisely what I argue in my latest Supreme Court Law Review article: the Court is telling interveners not to go where *the Court itself* goes, in fact and in law. They’re prescribing an absurdity.

Stephen Aylward@SGAylward

Twice in the last 4 months the @SCC_eng has taken swipes at interveners. Interveners go beyond the issues framed by the parties because the Court itself does so. SCC appeals are tough. The Court should be encouraging lawyers who offer assistance (for free).

BOOM: Canada's federal government is warning the provinces that it will reduce healthcare funding to the provinces...if they continue to allow private for-profit companies to charge patients for medically necessary care. Who else agrees we should protect public healthcare? ✋🏾

B’nai Brith Canada's attack on Sarah Jama is petty, and will only galvanize the many who respect and appreciate her work this group regularly singles out Black activists, and is constantly at odds with broader anti-oppression struggles I'm here for Jama—always will be❤️
Michael Bueckert@mbueckert

Today's article in the @TorontoStar not only repeats completely unfounded claims against political candidate Sarah Jama, but it amounts to a smear campaign against the Palestinian solidarity movement as a whole. I've written to @robferguson1 requesting immediate corrections.
