At UTMB, we are committed to advancing discoveries that improve lives today and shape a healthier future for generations to come. The new Moody Longevity Trial reflects that mission at its core — exploring whether an existing, FDA‑approved medication can slow biological aging and enhance quality of life for older adults. This groundbreaking work exemplifies our leadership in geroscience and our dedication to helping people live longer, stronger, and with greater vitality. I am deeply proud of our researchers and grateful for the Moody Endowment’s support as we open new doors in the science of healthy aging. Read more about this new trial at: utmb.us/f81

Today marks a significant milestone for UTMB and the community we are proud to serve. This morning, the @utsystem Board of Regents approved an agreement between UTMB and @BlueZones, officially bringing the Blue Zones Project to Galveston. This approval reflects our longstanding commitment to advancing health and vitality in the communities we serve. The Blue Zones Project is a research-informed population health initiative designed to help communities improve well-being and support longer, healthier lives. With this action, UTMB will launch a multi-year initiative focused on meaningful, sustainable impact across Galveston. To read more about what this means for our community, visit: utmb.us/f7j

As this year draws to a close, I reflect not simply on what has been accomplished @utmbhealth —but on what has been made possible by all our faculty, staff and students and by our close relationships with our community. UTMB is more than an institution. It is a force for discovery, healing, and hope. Every breakthrough in our laboratories, every life touched in our clinics, every learner inspired in our classrooms reflects a shared conviction: that medicine, science, and education can—and must—move humanity forward. This year, our community met complexity with courage and opportunity with imagination. We pushed boundaries, embraced innovation, and stayed true to our purpose even as the landscape of health care and higher education continued to evolve. What distinguishes UTMB is not only excellence, but intention—the belief that progress matters most when it serves people. We stand on a proud legacy, yet we are defined by our ambition. The future we are building is bold: advancing discovery, redefining care, shaping minds, and expanding our impact across Texas and the world. Powered by extraordinary people and united by mission, UTMB is positioned not just to adapt to the future—but to lead it. As we turn toward a new year, we do so with confidence, gratitude, and resolve. The work ahead is meaningful. The possibilities are limitless. And together, there is nothing we cannot achieve. Thank you for your dedication, your passion, and your belief in what UTMB stands for. The future is ours to shape—and it begins here, where purpose meets passion.
