Right now, kids are often the ones clicking “agree.” That means minors are unknowingly entering contracts that include data-sharing terms and even indemnification clauses with app developers—sometimes foreign companies—with Apple acting as the middleman. How is that even legal? The App Store Accountability Act fixes this by requiring child accounts to be linked to a parent account, so parents—not kids—are the ones giving consent and signing contracts. As my final legislative session comes to a close, I find myself gratefully reflecting on the blessing it has been to serve the people of the great State of Utah. I’ve been encouraged by many to take a look at Utah’s 2nd Congressional District where I live, where I raised my family, and where my children and grandchildren live. While I haven’t made a formal decision at this point, I take these conversations very seriously.
