Sen. Jim Tracy loved Tennessee, and Tennessee loved him back. He devoted his life to serving others with integrity, humility and kindness, leaving our state stronger because he answered the call to serve. He had a way of making everyone feel like they mattered, and that’s a rare gift. My heart goes out to Trena, their family and the countless friends whose lives Jim touched. He lived a life that made a difference, and his legacy will continue for generations.

The miles were logged. The race was run. And today, the trophy made its way home 🏆 Our UT System team is proud to celebrate a first-place finish in the medium company division of the 2026 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon Fittest Company Challenge. From the 5K to the full marathon, 50 runners came together to log more than 375 miles and made every step count. Congratulations to all of our participants, and thank you to @chknoxmarathon and the @knoxvilletrack for hosting another incredible event that inspires our community to get moving. One more reason to be proud to represent UT wherever we go! #EverywhereUT

Five years. Record-breaking momentum. An even brighter future ahead. As the newest campus in the UT System celebrates its fifth anniversary, @UT_Southern continues to reach new milestones — including an all-time high spring retention rate of 91%, a testament to the success of its students, faculty and staff. In just five years, UT Southern has built a strong foundation for growth, opportunity and student success. Here's to the next chapter of transforming lives and strengthening southern Middle Tennessee.

Today, the UT Board of Trustees approved a new 90-credit-hour applied bachelor’s degree pathway that will give students another option to earn a high-quality degree, enter the workforce sooner, and reduce the cost of higher education. This is about meeting students where they are, preparing graduates for high-demand careers, and helping Tennessee compete and win. Also, thank you to outgoing trustees Jamie Woodson and Decosta Jenkins, along with student trustee Ashlee Mallon, for their service and leadership on the board. Much appreciation as well to Ken Vickers for his service on the ERS committee as faculty Representative.
