Great morning sitting down with Chancellor @DondePlowman as part of the latest episode of her On Leadership podcast. Since joining @UTKnoxville in 2019, Chancellor Plowman has been an outstanding partner and advocate for Tennessee’s economic growth. Her leadership and the university’s work complement @TNECD’s efforts to attract new jobs and investment across the state.

When Tennessee competes for jobs and global investment, companies often tell us the same thing: Our people and relationships set us apart. That was especially true in TNECD’s recruitment of Korea Zinc. Create Energy announced today it will create more than 1,000 new jobs and invest $78 million across Sumner and Robertson Counties. The producer of renewable energy infrastructure plans to create 973 jobs in Orlinda, Tennessee, and 30 jobs in Portland, Tennessee, as part of its plan to purchase a new manufacturing facility and convert their current facility into a research and development (R&D) hub. tnecd.com/news/create-en…

Tennessee announced today the approval of a historic broadband expansion through the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program. The state-administered broadband investment plan will bring more than $200 million in BEAD funding to unserved and underserved communities across the state. Upon completion of the projects funded, all Tennessee businesses and residents will have access to reliable, high-speed internet. .@Sennheiser has selected Rock Nashville for the relocation of its Americas Regional Hub, moving its U.S. headquarters from Old Lyme, Connecticut, to Nashville. This morning, TNECD launched the Southern Middle and Upper Cumberland Music Census in partnership with @TNVacation, @tnentertains, Upper Cumberland Tourism and Experience Tennessee. The Census is a study of the region’s music ecosystem that covers 30 counties in Southern Middle Tennessee and the Upper Cumberland and is intended to bring musicians, venues, music industry professionals and music nonprofits across Middle Tennessee together to gain a better understanding of the region’s music ecosystem. tnecd.com/news/state-ann…

Today, we’re celebrating two amazing teammates whose combined 97 YEARS at TNECD have made a lasting difference. 🎉 After 52 years of service, under eight Governors and 17 Commissioners, Janet Plumlee is retiring as FastTrack Training Manager. Janet’s strong work ethic, caring spirit and steady leadership have impacted so many across our department. Jennifer Birdwell is also retiring today after 45 years of service, including work under six Governors and 14 Commissioners. As a Business Development Project Manager, she’s been a trusted partner and supportive resource to countless team members. We're grateful we could gather yesterday to celebrate them, and today we officially wish Janet and Jennifer all the best in retirement, filled with laughter, good health and time with the people they love. Thank you both for everything you’ve given to Tennessee. 👏

Documotion Research, the manufacturer and printer of StickyPOS®, announced today it is expanding its presence in Maury County. The company is creating 48 new jobs and invest $9.1 million in Columbia, Tennessee, through the addition of 40,000 square feet in manufacturing and maintenance. Durable Products, a subsidiary of GreenLiner, is expanding its manufacturing operations in Cumberland County. Through the project, the rubber product supplier will create 134 new jobs and invest $27.3 million in Crossville, Tennessee, through the refurbishing and retrofitting of its current operations to accommodate new machinery, warehousing, inventory and offices. Through the project, the Belgian manufacturer will create nearly 80 jobs and invest $50 million in Mt.
