24 year old David Puig climbed to a career high of 75th in the world after a T6 finish at LIV Golf South Africa. Throughout his young career he’s travelled all over the world to earn access to majors and this week he’s in India with a clear goal, winning to try and earn a last minute Masters invite. Speaking to Flushing It Golf ahead of the Hero Indian Open on the DP World Tour, David said: “I’ve come all this way to India to try and win and try to get in the Masters. “My game is good. I’m hitting it great and I’ve had 5 good events on LIV after playing well in Dubai on the DP World Tour and a great end to last year winning the Australian PGA. “I don’t know if it will be enough but I want to win and do everything I can to be at the Masters. It would mean everything to compete at Augusta. A dream come true.” This is David’s 8th start of 2026 all across the globe and despite the crazy travel schedule competing in 7 different countries, he’s been playing really well and his form reads: T3, T7, T4, T51, T8, T21 and T6. With 5 top 10s in 7 starts this year off the back of a win to end 2025, how does he rate his start to the season? “Overall pretty good. It’s been solid and I’ve had chances to win, I just haven’t made enough birdies. I’m really looking forward to the next events because I want to win and my game feels ready for it.” The venue for the Hero Indian Open is the DLF Golf and Country Club, famous for its brutal holes and spectacular design. So what does he think of the course? “The golf course is sick. There’s some mind blowing holes and it’s going to be brutal. Really challenging. “Hitting it far doesn’t have any advantage. You have to keep it straight. There’s no average shots, you just have to step up and commit to your targets and you need a good short game. If I can do that I think I have a good chance.” David is a rising star in the game and one of the best young talents in the world. It would be awesome to see him receive an invite to the Masters. You’ve got to admire David Puig, who continues to jet around the world in pursuit of a Masters debut. This week he’s at the Indian Open (DP World Tour). 75th in OWGR, needs to crack top 50 for Augusta. He will now have played five DPWT events and five LIV events this season 🇪🇸
