Just attended Grand Rounds for @UclaPsychRes , and I really enjoyed listening to @Lorenzo__Leggio explain how research on GLP-1 and the gut-brain connection may lead to new treatments for addiction. A quick 🧵 for those interested!

My advice to the new interns starting work tomorrow is to show up as your authentic self each day. The medical knowledge will come with training and experience. It’ll be difficult and exhausting. Stay true to who you are and hold on to your “why” as you grow and evolve.

When asked what is one thing he loves about training at UCLA, Dr. Amatya stated, “The strong sense of community! And I feel fortunate to be at a residency program that strongly supports my goal to become an academic psychiatrist.”

Dr. Amatya is applying to child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship this cycle. He is interested in working with young people that experience psychosis and using a variety of quantitative tools to study trajectories of mental illness across the lifespan.

Huge congratulations to Dr. Debha Amatya, one of our PGY-3 residents, for receiving the NIMH Outstanding Resident Award!! This selective award recognizes residents with outstanding research and academic potential, and we are proud to have him here at UCLA!
