Happening Now TEAMS LINK: bit.ly/FloridaEMS Do your EMS personnel intubate? Do they use VL? Do you have a robust airway CQI program? If not, you don't want to miss this episode with Dr. Brian Miller. He has developed a robust Airway CQI process that truly impact outcomes in the field.

ToOffer our EMSProviders relevant&useful information so as to support them—as they are supporting a seriously ailing nation—is a pleasure, an honor, and I feel, it is a duty that physicians owe one of the most important professionals in modern healthcare—our prehospital providers

@jducanto sucks, y’all (airway contaminants, that is). This should be a great lecture. Get your free CAPCE CE here.

This is especially true for what we've seen in most pre-hospital EMS setting!

@AmboFOAM Plus the bonus for the occasional intubator is that you can learn 90% of ETT delivery w HA-VL on a manikin. You need actual patients to learn to use a Mac blade. Mac laryngoscopy is both more resource intensive to learn & less reliable in experienced hands. It’s a lose-lose.

If we’d all grown up being trained to use HA-VL & someone just invented the Mac blade, would anyone bother to learn using it? I doubt it. If you really want to maximise 1st pass success, learn HA-VL. It’s just better.

NEAR registry of ED intubations from 2002 to 2012. 1) >85% were RSI 2) Etomidate and Succ most common but Roc rapidly increased. 3) VL increased over 10 years from <1% to 39% 5) FPS overall was 83% but increasing. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25533140/

Incredible short film from Harborview in Seattle. Just in case you forgot that #COVID19 is an extremely dangerous disease that spares some and devastates others for reasons that are not well understood. h/t: @nicchik90 Click here: player.mediaamp.io/p/U8-EDC/RCqha…
