@Smithdoggy_ Tarkov is the best extraction shooter in the market, and i don't even like it. Marathon is dead as it was expected to be. The game has nothing for content; just drop in, shoot things, extract. There is no feasible gameplay loop for Marathon as an "extraction" game. It's boring.

Marathon is unironically the best extraction shooter in the market. If what you're looking for is the extraction shooter experience. If you want fun stories with strangers then yes, ARC Raiders takes it. Otherwise Marathon does everything better than EVERYTHING else.

@Bebop_The_Golem @Pauzelock Dude, a new person playing Mo and Krill, Warden, or even Dynamo are not getting game-changing ults off.... kit skill isn't just "how easy it is to press 4", it's also about positioning, setup/timing, movement ability. They are not beginner type characters.

@srfc_hg @Matty_OW it is impossible to parry his punches in team fights where you are not focused on Viscous. You might get one, but you're not gonna Ryu-combo-block all those hits and still have a meaningful team fight. It needs to be changed.

@Matty_OW no, but your parry cd is reset when you land a parry so you can parry it in succession though it is quite difficult. My bigger issue is that its much easier for the viscous to repeat punch than it is for you to repeat parry, but the counterplay is somewhat doable.

Puddle Punch needs to not come off cooldown every 2 seconds, especially for an ability that can just be placed almost anywhere without much skill/effort needed.

I don’t hate marathon, I just don’t know what I’m playing for. I don’t know what the point is if every vault item and faction rep gets reset every month, what is the end goal in this game? I feel like there is just no purpose, maybe that’s the extraction shooter genre. idk

@CredicoDrew @qHugzz because every multiplayer game requires a proper end-game loop that keeps the player invested in playtime/character/hideout/whatever... once the progression stops, the game loses meaning. If this was set up as a match based shooter from the start, it would have lasted longer.

@qHugzz The resets are every 3 months. The "end goal" is to have fun, to get better, to enjoy the thrill of getting good loot and risking losing it. What is the "end goal" of any PVP game other than getting better?

The first version of Stormwind had no districts or canals. The framerate was below terrible. Then I thought of Venice. I grabbed a map of the city and slapped it down on the table the next morning. THIS, I said, is how we'll partition the city, drawing only the district you can see, separated by canals. It worked, and Stormwind was born.

@Dannyy_ac I find it truly amazing people refuse to believe what is right in front of them, based on their own feelings. You might have loved the game with every inch of your body, but the majority of people didn't, which is why it failed. Proof is in the pudding, baby.

This game could have gone crazy in the competitive scene. People wanted the Concord 2 narrative for content so badly it prevented the game from having even just a few thousand players. I saw the vision for this game and it wasn't allowed to cook. There will never be another FPS like this game ever again and it's a shame.

If you're gonna try out Marathon today, remember a couple things: This is not Tarkov or ARC or whatever else, it doesn't play the same. Learn the game's own mechanics. You don't have a safe container. Think, expect death, learn from your mistakes, and you'll have fun
