The older you get, the more you realize luck is mostly exposure. If you sit in the same place, have the same routine, talking to the same people, nothing new really happens. You have to tackle the world to succeed. Travel more. Talk to people.

As you grow older and achieve some level of success, friendships require intentional effort. Many people do not lose friends because of conflict, they lose friends because life becomes consumed by work, responsibilities, and survival. These are a few things I do to stay connected to people who genuinely matter to me: 1. I try to remember birthdays and send gifts — it doesn’t have to be expensive, just thoughtful. 2. I make an effort to attend important events. If I miss an event, I pay a visit afterward, and if I cannot visit, I make at least three phone calls in a month. 3. If a friend is sick, I must cook for them. My pepper soup has healed more catarrh than medicine. 4. I have learned that consistency matters more than grand gestures. Small acts of care, repeated over time, are what keep relationships alive. Success means very little if, at the end of the journey, you have nobody genuine to share it with. You need people to Talk to who can advise you and call out your Bullshit.

Some people are born users. Beware 🔕🔕🔕 My guy borrowed my 04 corolla to drop his girlfriend at the airport that year. Unknown to me, he hit the back of the car somewhere. When he returned, he just thanked me and handed over the key to me and left. That was it. It was when I was preparing to attend a wedding that evening that I noticed the back of the car had been hit. The damage wasn’t too serious, but it was obvious.I immediately called him.
