I've noticed that "software errors" in elections favor the Democrat candidates 100% of the time.

I get why Mamdani thought becoming mayor made him the generalisimo president of New York. Growing up in a fancy Ugandan compound with its own private militia will do that to a person.

Nolan either knowingly or unknowingly put a lot of Catholicism in the movie. In the scene where Penelope was behind the screen, I kept thinking about how much it reminded me of a confessional, and then at the end of the movie, we actually see Odysseus practically confessing to Penelope

Saw The Odyssey tonight. I didn't expect...anything, really. There's so much chatter about it, and so much of it is ideological in nature, but I just wanted to experience it as a film. I never read the poem, so I can't review it for authenticity. One of the many omissions of a public school education, I suppose. I only knew the broad strokes of the story (and certainly not all of them) through assimilation by means of cultural discourse. So I was really surprised to discover that it was an almost spiritual experience for me. Much of that, I'm sure, has to do with me being a man living in exile, unable to return home, while trying to understand the machinations of and suffering caused/permitted by (the) God(s). Of course, for me, there is no Ithaca to return to. My Ithaca may as well be Troy. (Cue the Aeneid fans). It's de rigeur to talk about the film's flaws, and I'm not going to pretend I didn't notice any -- and there are probably countless others I missed as a neophyte to the story. But it legitimately was a cinematic tour de force. I think it may be Nolan's best film. It was a powerful story, re-told in an impressive way for modern audiences, and I noticed that a lot of the audience tonight were young men of various demographics. I suspect there's something powerful in whatever is attracting them, especially at a 10PM showing on a Tuesday night. It really wasn't just a movie, it was an experience. And I'm glad I didn't listen to the complainers and went and saw it for myself.

@jpodhoretz I'm Meh on The Odyssey. It was executed well, but outside of John Bernthal, I didn't find any of the performances inspiring.

I do not think releasing a mediocre AVENGERS trailer the weekend after THE ODYSSEY blew everybody away was a sound marketing idea.

@mattvanswol Depends on how you define stolen. If you eliminate the 'COVID' changes made to election tabulation, I think there is a very good possibility that Trump would have won Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. The word stolen has denotative and connotative meanings.
